Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin Dual USB Car Charger for iPod (Black)Customer Review: Works where others don't! Summary: 5 Stars
Bought this for travel purposes to use in rental cars and to charge my phone, ipod and bluetooth headset. It charges any 2 of these simultaneously without fail.
Recently my wife and I upgraded to Palm's Pre and Pixi. Apparently the charging needs for these smart-phones are very specialized. Turns out the Belkin is the only 3rd-party car charger that will charge my wifes pixi with a USB cable (generic or palm). Obviously the Palm car charger would work but it won't accept any other USB cable besides the Palm one. This work for us since we use the USB port to charge other devices (see above).
It's a little on the bulky side, but not really a problem.
Customer Review: Great Dual Charger Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for a charger for my iPod Touch when I saw that this charger had two USB ports. I figured it would be nice to have my Ipod and GPS plugged in at the same time. I had read reviews that some GPS systems did not work with this because when it is plpugged in using the USB port, it makes the GPS system think it is plugged into a computer, which disables the navigation function. I bought it anyways thinkning there are other things i could use it for is my GPS didn't work with it. Glad to say my Garmin Nuvi 765 works just great with this charger. It is nice to be able to plug two things in at once, using just one charger. highly recommend this product
Customer Review: Power up! Summary: 4 Stars
Got this for my Motorola cell phone and my Cowon mp3 player; charges both and I can use my devices while they charge.
Pros
-Has a 1amp slot for faster charging
-2 slots for charging 2 devices
-Snug fit in my '08 Corolla
Cons
-A little large
-Only one 1amp slot the other is 500mah
-The included cables aren't the greatest; but I got this for the charger not the cables.
Would I buy this again? Yes. Do I recommend it? Yes. Just wish they could make it a little smaller and maybe reduce the price and cut out the extra cables.
Customer Review: (appears to be) A very Intelligent Charger Summary: 5 Stars
Please ignore my review unless you know a little about electronics and USB.
I haven't done any current tests or analyzed the USB signal (there's supposed to be a signal to enable 1A charging on a device), but I have taken the charger apart. Each USB port has dedicated connections (even ground). Other USB hubs/ports I've looked at hook all of the power connections together. This leads me to assume Belkin has dedicated power management per USB port.
Other than that, it's a charger. It charged a 4th gen Nano, a 3G iPhone, and Blackberry Pearl just fine.
Customer Review: Half Works? Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this to use to charge my iPod and my Motorola Cliq. I figured it was perfect since I could use the USB cord for my phone to plug in to the other port.
The problem I'm running in to is that the phone won't charge. I've switched between the two USB ports, and even tried a different microUSB cable and it refuses to charge. I then tried to charge my Plantronics Bluetooth headset and that wouldn't charge either. The iPod Touch charges fine, but I can't seem to get anything else to. Other people don't seem to have this problem so I'm not sure what mine's doing.
