this is a very cheaply made item. the holes are very close together making use of an adaptor impractical asi it covers 2-3 of the outlets (depending on adaptor size. i paid 7 and feel ripped, at 4 would have been fair. another big problem is there is no on-off switch nor any lights indicating it is on (i should have looked at the pic)...this is a huge problem for me. my other outlet plugs have a main on-off switch which i find need of many times. seeing how cheap this is, how small, i wonder IF it will really do the job of protecting...how does one ever know until a fatal strike to equipment. i guess one is paying for the belkin name.Customer Review: Dirt cheap and effective, but the cord is SHORT!

Going into the purchase I was aware that the cord was short, but I chose to ignore that. When I got them, I saw what everyone meant; they were ridiculously short. It managed to fit underneath me desk, but barely. However, once it was under, it was great. The plugs are spaced far apart enough that putting in one of my bigger bricks doesn't occupy so much space that I cannot put another plug into it's side. Also, covering the power switch helps to stop my foot from accidentally tripping the power. All in all, a great value for your buck, assuming that an extremely short cord is not a problem.Customer Review: Cheap Surge Protector

The surge protector doesn't have anything special about it. It has a short cord, no room is left for bigger plugs (except maybe the last one). I first thought that it arrived dead because no power went through but as I wanted to throw it out, I noticed that there was a switch hidden next to the power cord to turn it on. It is the first surge protector that I have seen that doesn't have the switch at the top.
At least it was cheap and does what is supposed to do and if you don't want a light on your surge protectors than this is probably a good choice for you.

I have chosen this item because it is cheap and because of the user reviews were OK.
When I received the first outlet it almost exploded when I plugged it and pulled the switch. It was connected to my Internet router (the device I wanted to protect!) and I was worried it had been damaged. It was not the case, so I think that the surge protector somehow worked. This is why I asked for a replacement. I am using the new surge protector with no problems at all. Currently my Internet router, laptop, NAS and printer are connected to it and everything works fine.

I needed this for my bedside table, for my alarm clocks, cell phone charger, lamp, etc. It is perfect for little things like that. The cord is very short but for what I need to use it for that is okay. I wouldn't use it for anything other than something small like that.
The main downside to it is that it doesn't have a flatter plug. Several surge protectors have that now so it fits closer to the wall, and since this will be going in behind my bed I would've preferred that. That is why it lost a star. Otherwise, it suited my needs perfectly.
