Connects our camcorder to my laptop exactly as expected. It's a cable, what more do you need to know?
Well...construction is sturdy, heavily shielded, maybe slight overkill for 3 feet of cable, but it's safe to say this thing won't break easily. The heavy shielding does reduce flexibility; if that bothers you then look elsewhere.
It's also an ideal length for use with a laptop, but you may want to make sure that 3' really is long enough for your situation.

I read the reviews before I bought this wire and was convinced that it was the one to get. After it arrived I put it to the test. It works flawlessly. I am very happy with the product and would recommend it to anyone who is wonder if they should buy a universal or this. The wire is a little stiff but not as much as I felt the other discriptions had said, it's managable. This 4-pin to 4-pin firewire cable was exactly the cable I needed to connect my 10+ year old digital camcorder to a computer. I had not used my camera in a while, and none of the cables I had seemed to work with any of the computers I now own; the local electronics stores did not carry anything that would work; but my laptop had a 4-pin firewire port, and so did my camera, and I was able to find this cable on Amazon. I bought this cable over some other pricey ones I saw in a store, thinking they are all the same. But NO!!! Please please do not buy cheap firewire cables. While transferring priceless videos of my son's activities, i found out why this cable is CHEAP. The video quality was ok but the sound was completely messed up. I confirmed it with several transfers and all of them had jerky sound quality. A little extra money is definitely worth it.Customer Review: Very good product

I bought this product online at amazon. It arrived as expected and is providing more than expected results.
I had my MiniDV casette which I wanted to convert to a
DVD on Windows Vista.
This thing worked without any issue and gave perfect streaming even when working with applications while copying was being done.
Would recommend it to everybody who has a MiniDV and requires it to transfer it to DVD or CD.
