It is definitely not an easy task to get this whole thing put together and hooked up. There's not a lot of room for tied up cords, so it's best to tie up a couple and then just stuff the others in the open spaces. It popped open the first time I closed it and doesn't seem to latch securely. I thought I was going to have to tape it shut. With a little rearranging, it stayed closed and hasn't popped open again.
It's pretty long, so placement can be a problem. I had set it up behind my rolling TV stand, but realized that it wouldn't move easily without rollers of its own. So I popped it open the other day, unplugged everything and started from scratch. I now have it end on and put it on the cart itself. I thought at first that the shelf wasn't going to be deep enough. Now it hangs off the back a bit, but that's OK. I have the end with the power switch on the front and all the cords coming out of the back. It looks nice though I wish it were either black or white like my TiVo and Wii respectively instead of that dull dove gray that electronics manufacturers--but no one else--loves.
Oh, there's one other great feature. You can pull the cords out of either side or even the top--and that goes for its own cord too. It might be good to buy a colour coding set as well. Once the cords are all shoved up in there, it's hard to tell what goes to what.
In summary, its difficult to set up, but once it's done, it's done. Not good for temporary set-ups, but great if you want to set it up and leave it.

Like an earlier reviewer mentioned, I also received the item with a broken cover hinge. Fault goes to Belkin's poor packaging, not Amazon's packing. I didn't want hassle of returning it so I just decided to keep it as I was able to put the cover in place despite only using 1 hinge. The plastic hinge is poorly designed so very likely the hinge would have eventually broken off. Despite this issue, the unit works as it should. The cover does "cover up" the wire mess but the cable routing is very tight so it take some work to squeeze in all the wires. Also, the block spacing doesn't accommodate odd-looking transformer blocks, like those from my motorola charger and USB hub.Customer Review: Does its job reasonably well and looks great doing it

I foolishly bought this at a big box store at MSRP. At that price, this surge protector needs to be constructed of far sturdier materials. However, the price on Amazon I believe is about right. As far as its construction goes: I can already guess that my cover will break after opening and closing it a few times. Thankfully it hasn't yet. Also, you really need to put the surge's cord on the opposite side of the other cords, as it is too big to share space with other cords given the rather limited space for them. The external plug is a great idea! Overall, if Belkin could replace the chinsy plastic cover with a sturdier cover, this thing would be golden.Customer Review: Has Some Options

I got this surge protector because I needed to protect my equipment and control cords. I like that there is space to house cords so they aren't popping up all over the back of my entertainment center. I also like that there are different options to format the cords being plugged in - some snuggled in together on the left, and others that need more individual space on the right. The one drawback is that I thought those big plugs (the ones that look like boxes, such as for a printer or phone charger) could fit into one outlet space, but it still takes two spaces. Make sure you buy a surge protector with enough spaces based on two each for these types of plugs.Customer Review: I gave it 3 stars because I don't know how well it works

As my title indicates, I do not know how well this item works -- I was not able to use it. It arrived damaged, with the concealing cover hinge broken. Unfortunately, being unable to use the concealing cover really defeats the purpose of the product and I am returning it. Amazon's packaging was fine (a big box with plenty of inflatable plastic pillows). However, the manufacturer's packaging was terrible. The surge protector was just placed in a flimsy cardboard (not corrugated) box without any padding or protection whatsoever. It might be a good product but the hinges seem weak if they can't handle the shipping process.
