Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of PCD Basics Fiber Optic Audio Cable - 6ft (1.8M)Customer Review: Very Inexpensive!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased 2 of these cables for $1.39 each. I couldn't believe the price! I learned about them while searching Amazon for optical audio cables. I needed some cables for my new Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player (high definition). Like a fellow Amazonian said in his review, don't waste money buying Monster cables for $20 - $30 dollars a piece. These work perfectly fine. Besides, they're just transmitting bits folks. The only advantage that Monster cables have is that the connections on the ends may feel more sturdy. However, unless you are unplugging and plugging in your cables all of the time, there's no reason to pay for this level of reliability. I don't know about you, but I just plug my cables in once, and leave them for years. This cable is a great buy.
Customer Review: Flimsy connectors. Thin cable. Not what is pictured. Summary: 1 Stars
The picture shows a standard cable with caps that are tethered so they don't get lost. What I got was a very thin cable, no tethers for the caps, and the connectors are loose and go in crooked.
See the customer photos that have the thin wire for what is shipping now for this item. The connectors on mine looked flimsy compared to the ones pictured, but they are similar. Maybe some people like the thin style cables. For me, they just seem too easy to damage. The bigger problem is the connectors.
I ordered a different set at the same time as this one (Amazon 2 x 12ft by cablemart). I'm using the other set that are made with the standard cable diameter and the connector went in with the normal solid click.
Customer Review: Quality as Expected Summary: 5 Stars
The product is exactly as I expected and I got it for an extremely good price. I purchased this a few months ago and is working wonderfully. I have nothing negative at all and recommend this product when at a good price. I purchased it for less than $8. I wouldn't be a good judge of Optical Cables compared to each other, but it is "light years" beyond using analog audio cables that we were using with our nice sound system. We are using it for watching TV via an antenna that receives up to 1080i. It's wonderful to now have brilliant sound quality (depending on the providing channel) for TV shows. I know this may be a norm for those cable and dish users out there, but this is stunning for me to get quality via TV antenna.

Customer Review: Very Misleading Pictures Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this cable for my entertainment system. The product I received was not at all what was pictured. The cables appear very cheaply made and I was actually quite upset when I received them. However, I have some other optical cables that I paid more for and they both perform exactly the same. These cables actually have a stronger connection than the more expensive cables I previously bought. If you're going to install these cables and do not intend on unplugging them and plugging them back in constantly, then they should suite anyone just fine. The price was so cheap I bought three. In conclusion, if you're trying to save a few bucks then these optical cables will work just fine. Just don't expect to receive what is pictured.
Customer Review: Extremely shocked by such a low price Summary: 5 Stars
To me, a cable is a cable just like an orange is an orange. Why pay more when you can get it somewhere else for less money? Well, I saw that the price of this cable is around $1. I bought it and connect it to my PS3 to my home theater system. The sound is awesome! I have no problems with this cable and I like it so much, I'm going to purchase another one.
*edit 10/27/09* So I bought another one about a year ago connecting it from my TV to my surround sound system. A year later, the sound is all choppy. But the other cable connected to my PS3 still works fine. I don't know if its the cable or the TV or the surround sound system. So I'm going to buy another fiber optic cable from a different company to see if that one works.
