Customer Review: loss of signal, even though it isn't stated
Summary: 1 Stars

There is no mention of this product causing loss of signal strength - but it does. I tried using the OPTICAL SPLITTER and it didn't work.

When i connected my xbox and computer to my receiver, i got a faint red light coming through. The sound of Halo would cut out every couple of seconds and the computer didn't come through at all. When i bought better 20 dollar cables at target, the sound came through perfectly.

You can buy the cheap cables, but i will suggest Radio Shack Fiber Optic Signal Amplifier (15-1588) Toslink connectors. It worked perfectly for me.

With the crappy cables, it didn't matter which way i ran it - 2to1 or 1to2, i still had the same problem.

and if you want a RMA refund, they will only give you the product price, not the 4.99 shipping cost - so basically if they don't work, it's not worth returning.

Customer Review: Is this a toy?
Summary: 2 Stars

What I actually received was an "Optical Cable lite", as stated on the plastic bag, not what is named/ described
This cable is about 1/10 the thickness of the Targus $2 cables I'm using in my living room. The thickness of the end housing is about 3/4 of my other cables. With such small amount of protection around the wire, it's can't have the same protection that more standard cables have. It's the rubber around the wire that keeps your cables from interfering with one another.
I don't know how they work yet, but these are NOT exactly like Monster Cables, as stated in some reviews I've seen, or any other standard cables I've ever used or seen, as the description lead me to believe.
I'm really disappointed. I thought I was getting a high quality cable, similar to other cables I've purchased on Amazon, but this is not made anywhere nearly as well and it's as it's been skimped on in the amount of covering to protect the wire, I don't have high hopes that any part of it was made with any quality. I bought two, so I paid two shipping fees

Customer Review: Weird pricing structure SAVED ME A TON OF MONEY!
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm using these Toslink cables for an 8-channel ADAT digital audio link between my Tascam DA-88 and Akai DPS24 digital audio workstation. The cables are quite nice -- all individually wrapped in plastic. They look just like a Toslink cable, and work without problems. I have 4 times the digital audio data as a typical stereo system. I just pluggedd them in and they worked.

Most Toslink connections are stereo SPDIF, but if you are looking to connect your 8-channel ADAT equipment together or maybe like I was, to connect you ADAT gear to your Akai MPLP (multi-purpose light pipe), THIS CABLE WILL WORK and does not cost a ton of money.

Seems like I'm mostly paying for shipping, but that's OK. Shipping was less than it would cost me to drive to Best Buy, where I would have the privilege of paying TEN times as much (total cost). I bought 4 because they were so reasonably priced. Still cost me less then I would have paid for one at Best Buy. I'll be replacing some of my wired coax connectors with the optical ones.

Customer Review: It's little flimsy, but works like my previous $50+ optic cables
Summary: 4 Stars

I had to replace one of my optic cables that was 3 feet long because I was moving around my home threater setup. I believe I paid around $20~$30 for @ bestbuy for mere 3 feet. Going back to major retailers, these suckers run $50 and up. I didn't want to forcefully pay $50 to replace my working 3ft cable.

Even with shipping it was around $5. Obviously, no retail stores can beat that price for what it offers. I was little surprised to see how skinny the cable was compared to my other ones. It's literally feels like a straw you get with a hot cup of coffee. I'm guessing the price cut comes from getting rid of protective cover of the cable.

It sure feels unsafe. However, it WORKS just like other ones. Unless you have ears like a dog and ultra-high end sound system, I don't think this will be a problem. If you had the money to burn, you would be looking at Monster cables instead of cheapy ones like this. I'm guessing as long as your children or pet are not around the cable, it should be fine.

Customer Review: Not the one in the picture
Summary: 1 Stars

OK, First of all I have to say that even though many people say that it does the job (which it does) it is extremely unacceptable to put a picture of a product and to sell another. That being said, I agree that the product did the job, but I had to do some work on one of the sides of the cable because it does not have the correct adapter.

Imagine that you get your product, you connect to your Playstation 3 or DVD Player or whatever. You see that it fits, it works, but then you see the other side of the cable and it is different, when you try to connect that to your home theater you realize it will never "click" so you need to put some silly putty or invisible tape to keep the cable in its place!! do you think that is acceptable? I think it is definitely not!

I know the product is cheap and I shouldn't expect a lot from it, but the least I expect is that the product I see in the picture is the same product I get by mail.
