Customer Review: An excellent ipod dock, works great with my 4th gen nano

This is an excellent ipod dock and definitely a WORTHY alternative to Apple's own ipod dock. There were two major reasons I purchased this one over Apple's. 1) This dock is much cheaper and 2) for a lower price, you get more features. More features for a less price was enough for me to try this one out. I was scared that this dock might be cheap, low quality, etc, but so far so good.
This dock, like Apple's, allows you to charge/sync your ipod by connecting to your computer via the USB cable that came with your ipod. You can also connect this dock (via the same USB cable) to a wall outlet with a USB power adapter (buy separately...you can use Apple's expensive one...I am using the dock with a $20 Griffen USB adapter found at walmart). This dock also allows you to control your ipod with the included remote.
UNLIKE Apple's remote, this dock/remote combo allows you to easily navigate the menus, scroll up and down, and do pretty much anything you can with the clickwheel. As far as I have read, Apple's dock/remote does not let you do this, and you have to physically go to your ipod to change to a specific song. Admittedly, with this dock you have to be close enough to read your ipod menus anyway, so the only advantage with this dock is that you don't have to touch your ipod and put wear and tear on the connector by pushing on your ipod. Instead you can simply use the remote. The remote also lets you easily toggle repeat and shuffle on the ipod, as well as power.
Setting this dock up was easy enough. I plugged one end of the USB cable into the dock, the other end into my Griffen USB power adapter, and my 4th Gen iPod nano's showed battery charging right away. Excellent. I also hooked up my stereo system to the 3.5 mm stereo jack on the back, and my music is playing loud and clear as I type. As of yet, no problems with any low quality sound.
I would like to comment on how another reviewer said that this dock looks low quality and cheap plastic. Not at all. It is plain white plastic, and I doubt most people could even tell the difference between this and the Apple Dock. The remote itself does look sort of cheap, not as sleek as Apple's.
PROBLEMS: I did run into a minor problem with the dock. The dock comes with 3 dock adapters: iPod mini, 4th gen ipod with clickwheel, and the first ipod photo. Those are all old ipods and I doubt many people use those anymore. I noticed that the dock adapters are the same size as the one I got with my 4th gen nano. However, when I tried to put in Apple's dock adapter into this dock, it didn't really fit. It was like 1 mm away from fitting in there. I think if I forced it in, it might work, but I didn't bother. The 4th Gen nano is light enough to rest on the connector port so I didn't bother with the adapter. If you are using a larger ipod/iphone, resting all that weight on the connector might cause some wear and tear. I'm not sure.
Aside from the dock adapter problem, which was why I gave 4 stars instead of 5, I think that this is an excellent dock that does everything it's supposed to do and even better than Apple's $50 dock. It's an excellent product and if you get a defective one like some of the other reviewers, get an exchange
