Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Bose SoundDock digital music system for iPod (Black)Customer Review: Good IPOD speakers but will not work with latest IPOD model Summary: 4 Stars
This is very good speaker for IPOD, probably one of the best out there. It has very nice sound which will easily fill the small and medium size room. It lacks the bass which is understandable for speaker of this size. One thing I don't like is no aux input, come on Bose, for $299 when it first came out, I would expect one. The price is a little too high but hey, it's Bose, and it is expected to be overprice. Overall a good IPOD speaker if you can afford the high price tag.
It will not charge the latest IPOD released in 2008, i.e. 4th gen Nano, 2nd gen Touch, not sure about the 120 Gb classic. I blame this on Apple, not Bose, for changing the pin used for charging IPOD in their latest models. So, beware if you have these new IPOD.
Customer Review: disappointed Summary: 1 Stars
Bose Dock---- Extremely disappointed with item and web information. Nowhere on the website did it show any technical requirements for product, therefore, the dock was not compatible with my ipod, upon receipt. I called "One Call" after finding out the problem thru Bose that I needed the series II model, and altho One Call agreed to waive the restocking fee, I had to pay postage to return item, in the amount of $18.50. Bose SoundDock digital music system for iPod (Black) I have sent Amazon, One Call and Bose my letter of request to be reimbursed for postage and have yet heard anything. Also advised my American Express of this problem.
Customer Review: You Get What You Pay For, Period! Summary: 5 Stars
Yes, it's $299. Yes, it has a long power cord. But it's a BOSE, people! I tried out all the other models in the store, including the Altec Lansing which was the one I thought I wanted. No comparison! I was pleasantly appalled at the sound that came out of this little box. I tried it out with classical music, pop, and the ultimate test - Metallica. It provided crisp response at all volumes. I needed something relatively small that I could move from room to room if I wanted, and this fits the bill. There's an available carry case that holds the speaker, cord, iPod and headphones so you can safely take it to a friend's house, etc. Just be careful when docking and undocking your iPod and keep the docking cradle clean.
Customer Review: hissing noise Summary: 1 Stars
I have the same problem as one of the other reviewers: I get a high-pitched noise whenever my iPod Touch is in the dock, whether it's on or off. Google around and you'll see that others have had this problem. The problem is not my iPod, either--I've tried this with two different generations of iPod Touch with the same result. Nor is it, as some have suggested, a problem that fixes itself when you turn the wifi on the iPod off. It is just outrageous to have a problem like this on an item in this price segment. One fellow on the Amazon rating page here suggests opening the unit up and tinkering with the wiring; I haven't tried that yet, I confess. But do you really want to buy a product that requires such shenanigans?
Customer Review: Fantastic Sound but high price Summary: 4 Stars
After a lot of digging around at Best Buy, Circuit City, etc, I finally decided on the Bose Sound dock. First off the price is very high at $299, but the sound is fantastic and it looks great in my home office. I wanted something nice looking with great sound and it doesn't get any better than bose. There are several other speaker systems from Logitech and Altech Lansing that I tried, but they sounded either "tinny" or the bass was over done. Again the price is high, but you can't go wrong. Easy set up (Plug in the SoundDock, plug in the insert for your ipod, dock, and your ready to listen to some high quality sound). Remote is nice, but only controls basic functions. I gave it 4 stars due to the price
