I went to the Apple store planning to buy the Bose in-ear headphones but wasn't all that impressed once I tried their sample model. Tried out the on-ear headphones and boom! What a difference. I took them on a business trip and was very favorably impressed. I had the first-generation on-ear noise-canceling headphone and they were hot on the ears and relatively unwieldy for travel. These are much smaller and fold up into a very small case, and more comfortable on the ear. And even though they're not noise-canceling they did a good job of blocking out the ambient noise in the airport and on the plane. Perhaps a little too expensive, perhaps a somewhat cheap plastic build quality, but I'm very happy with the sound quality.Customer Review: Crisp!

I first tried the earphones in a BOSE store in November and was amazed with the sound. From the "heavy" tones to the more lighter ones - everything was just perfectly depicted by this wonderful set of earphones. And I'm still absolutely amazed about the product. I'd absolutely recommend it to everybody who wants to have perfect sound on the way to work, in the subway or while walking the dog.
In addition: Extremely comfy to wear! No hassle with any twitches or aches of any form. I always had problems with those Ipod-standard-earphone-things... Started hurting just after half an hour or so. Solved it with this pair of earphones.
In two words: Downright recommendation.

These are the best sounding BOSE headphones you can buy. Period.
I own the BOSE QuietComfort (QC) 15's, QC 3's, QC 2's, Around-ears and In-ears, and none of them sound as good as the BOSE On-Ear Headphones.
I listen to all genres of music and I've yet to find a song that doesn't sound good through these headphones. They have superb lows and highs, while providing smooth midrange.
After 2.5 years of use (both running and relaxing), they still look new and sound great. When I travel, I use my QuietComfort's on the plane, but I still take these along to use when on the ground.
Trust me. You will not be disappointed with these headphones.

This listing clearly said "Over the ear" what was received was "On the ear". Since it was a gift it was too late to replace. Seller said we could return and that he had another buyer waiting, but wasn't sorry about the mistake. Just matter a fact, send them back then. The price was not as good since the on the ear headphones cost less to begin with. We lost out. I cannot comment on the Over the ear headphones because we never received them.
"Over the ear" covers the entire ear, it is more comfortable and better for airplane travel. "On the ear" headphones might look a bit "cooler" but after a time wearing them can press down on the ear and cause fatigue.

Nothing compares to the quality of these headphone! They are extremely comfortable, have INCREDIBLE sound quality, and are very durable. I use in combination with my IPOD, or laptop when watching movies while traveling.
A few additional observations:
1. Sound BETTER than the Bose "Around-Ear" model.
2. Great zippered - professional case
3. Not sound deadening - but completely blocks out background airplane noise!
4. Headphones have a "Jack" feature - and includes a short & long wire.
5. Wires are VERY durable - rubber like quality.
EASY Recommendation - ESSENTIAL PURCHASE!
