Customer Review: Perfect for what they are...
Summary: 5 Stars

People buy these thinking they are going to compair with a larger system.
What you must understand is that these little speakers with 3" full-range drivers simply sound wonderful for the size they are.
I was amazed at the sound they put out for the size.
Very full sounding and crisp. They will fill a room with sound, but keep
in mind that these are not meant to blow you away at high volumes.

I have found they are room dependent... Move them around to get the best sound. On your desk, you WILL be suprised at the sound quality that comes from these.

My husband could not believe that these little speakers were all that was playing... He thought for sure these was some type of small subwoofer somewhere. Granted, they do not shake the walls, but deliver a very full sound that is very satisfying. For people who dont like there music loud... these are for you as they sound so sweet turned down, unlike many other 2.0 sets that require a little volume before you get any bass.

We use them in the den and on the porch with our Creative Zen Vision:M portable MP3/Media player.

I highly recommend them!

Customer Review: Perfect for certain applications
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed some speakers for my office and these were one of the very few designs that really fit with a contemporary modern office without looking like they were straight out of some sci fi movie. They're constructed solid, good quality, good sound.

Are they going to win out against my home system with a subwoofer or against a 1,000 RMS audiophile system with 32 speakers? No. Are there other 2.0 systems (2 speaker) systems out there that sound better? Probably but again some of those look like they're straight from the cockpit of some starship.

What these will do is give you good solid sound (and relatively good base) and fit into a contemporary office decor.

Don't get me wrong...for my Dell Alienware Aurora Desktop souped up $4k gaming beast, I need something racier than these speakers (something with exposed midranges and a 500watt amp running them complete with a 15" pile driver subwoofer).

For my run of the mill conservative office -- get these. You won't be disappointed.

Customer Review: Overpriced and Underpowered
Summary: 1 Stars

This was the first set of Bose speakers I have ever bought. They were an attempt to see if it was a company I'd stick with as I've always wanted to own a Bose sound system. Well, I am horribly disappointed. For starters they really don't have very good wattage as they can't really get too terribly loud. Second, HORRIBLE frequency response. The bass is non-existent so don't attempt to listen to any music on them for the moment bass kicks in, the speakers fade out and sound like a gargled mess. Lastly, there's rattling in the left speaker, which I can only contribute to a blown speaker. The rattling began only a month or so after purchase.

I have a Coby 5.1 stereo hooked up to my t.v. currently. I've had it now for seven years, and yet it still works perfectly and sounds a million times better than this Bose rubbish. Crazy, because you can pick up a Coby stereo system for a quarter of the price of the Bose Companion 2.

Needless to say I will NEVER AGAIN buy another Bose product. Incredibly disappointed. The only saving graces are 220v/ 110v capable, and they "feel" quality. Other than that... nada.

Customer Review: Clarity in a small package.

I recently purchased the Bose Companion speakers and was instantly pleased. After reading a few reviews that talked about the minimal bass output I was a bit skepticle, but after 10 minutes hooked up to my computer I was pleased to disagree. These are not speakers for a large room or to try to power a party with drum and bass, but for a desktop/smaller room application these are amazing. As far as the bass goes, it has a nice round tone and when I hooked my bass guitar up to it they didn't frump out or crackle (a true "bass" test). Any audiophile would be pleased with the clear highs and mids and that Bose design that looks so great.

These speakers do have a fault and that is the inability to turn them on and off. I have had mine for a few months now and leave them plugged in with the volume down when i'm not using them which gives me a dirty, doctors office feel. No over-heating problems or anything of the like.

If you are looking to "crank the bass" and make your room sound like a club, then go to a club. For those who want to actually listen and hear their music, these are great.

Customer Review: Good, clear speakers
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased these speakers to use in my dorm room so I could listen to music from my laptop and iPod. I wanted a set of small speakers that weren't too expensive, but still sounded great. I believe that is what I got.

I am a musician, so I am a bit picky about my sound. Without the sub woofer, of course these speakers can't produce an earth-shattering bass. But they do produce a surprisingly nice bass sound that fit with the mid and high tones. It is present without being over-bearing (I prefer to listen to my music, not feel the bass thumping). The speakers have very nice clarity for the mids and highs. They are also very compact. They sit nicely on either side of my laptop, and take up very little desk space.

One drawback is that there can be feedback every now and then if a cell phone is too close to them. The signal will momentarily be interrupted when the phone rings, but this problem is easily avoided.

Overall, I am very happy with my purchase for the price, and I would recommend these speakers to anyone looking for a nice set without spending too much.
