Customer Review: Easy installation and great sound!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought these based mostly on my friend having these hooked to his PC, but I did some comparison shopping and listening (at a Target kiosk) before buying. Yes, they are more expensive, and yes you are paying for Bose, but regardless of what some people say these Speakers are good for what they are made for. I wanted a nice balanced sound which had good bass, middles and highs but not over the top. These were the ticket for me. I have a Haier Rhapsody Ibiza and they finally came out with an audio dock that hooks up to external speakers, the installation was a breeze and within seconds my home was filled with rich, balanced music, clear and distinctive with no distortion. These speakers are not for blasting, even at a high volume you still get balance without distortion, which is what I wanted. I am not a Bose cheerleader as this is my first Bose product, just because I like them and think they are worth the money after extensive research and listening doesn't make me a shill, it makes me a satisfied customer, lest I get attacked by someone on here who seems to always prove he's right. Anyway, for what I wanted and needed these were perfect, I love the sound and I am satisfied.

Customer Review: Great sounding speakers, take it from bass player.
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't understand how anyone can complain about the Bose Companion 2 series II multimedia speaker system. These desktop speakers are designed for computer and mp3 player use. For their size and price you will not find a better system. The sound is fantastic! Great lows, highs, mids... a well rounded and full sound for any style of music or movie. (I listen to everything from Jazz, Classical, Punk, Pop, Funk, Metal, and Polka just to name a few.) As a professional acoustic and electric bass player I am very picky when it comes to bass response in sound systems. The Companion 2's more than satisfy my need for bass response and definition. The stereo separation is very spacious when seated between the speakers. They are simple to use, with just one volume knob. They are well constructed and very solid feeling. They aren't bulky and have plenty of volume for their small size.

I live and work as a musician on cruise ships and these work perfect in my cabin. Sometimes they are even too loud for my neighbors! They fit nicely in to my suitcase for travel.

For under $100 you can't go wrong with the Bose Companion 2 series II multimedia speaker system.

Customer Review: Excellent for TV, DVD's, etc. OK for music
Summary: 4 Stars

Don't expect these to blow you away with lows because BOSE made them, because it won't happen.

You can't overcome the issue with using small drivers to handle all of the range in sound. They have a nice midbass spike which makes them excellent for TV's. But their circuitry compresses bass output when distortion is sensed, which makes them flat for music enjoyment. I'm using them now for my LCD TV and they sound excellent. Low power usage, nice bass, clear wide sound all in a small package. With the deal BOSE is offering for these "factory renewed" at 59.99 (69.99 after sale I believe). You absolutely should buy these.

Don't let anyone tell you that they're better options for a 2.0 because there isn't. Simply turning down the bass with an EQ allows these to get very loud for music. That's their only downfall, the bass in these is just too overpowering for music which prompts you to fix it yourself with an EQ.

In short. Needs bass reduction via an EQ to allow crankability with music, otherwise these will tap out with the knob turned half way. EXCELLENT for TV replacement speakers, without the clutter of a separate subwoofer.

Customer Review: Design not thought out, sound quality terrible
Summary: 2 Stars

I picked up these speakers, thinking I was treating myself to great sound from my computer. When I opened the package the first annoyance (minor) was the complexity of the design. After reading the instructions though it was a snap to put together.

the first major annoyance was the fact that the cable that connects the two speakers is not long enough to get any depth from my computer. I was very disappointed, knowing that Bose makes a fair bit of margin I don't see why they would skimp here (the cables aren't high quality anyways). I wanted to have good separation from left to right, this was not possible.

Okay I tell myself, they're ugly as sin, they have a terribly thoughtless design for my intended use, but hey they're Bose, they will sound great.

Sound is terrible. There is no bass what so ever. The sound is tinny at best even at low levels. I constantly had to adjust volume because there is no depth to the music so different songs went from being okay to hurting my ears.

These speakers are worse than the ones inside of my computer.

Recommendation, do not buy, instead pick up some soundsticks.

Customer Review: Very Disappointed
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought these pair of speakers to replace my old Roland speakers that I bought five years ago. I received them today and I already packed them back for a return. The quality of the sound did not meet the expectations at all. Furthermore, the quality is way down below the quality of a couple of average speakers that would sell for $30.00 (and this sells for $99!!!)- With some particular music, the sound was delivered like in waves, coming in and back randomly. I could not understand or figure out why, At less than 50% of the volume, these speakers are a joke. To start getting something our of them, you need to use more than 50% of the volume. And still, the sound is not impressive at all. I was comparing them with my old Roland, and my Roland deliver much more than this at 25% of their power. I was using my desktop and my laptop at the same time with the same exact song to see the difference, and I am confident that these Bose speakers are not good at all. So back to the box, and I am enjoying my Roland speakers again. I am NOT recomending this to absolutely anybody. They are extremely overpriced and they do NOT deliver what they were supposed to. Thanks for reading.
