Customer Review: It Does Exactly What I Want

I've owned and used this product in my living room for several years now, and have come back to purchase a second set for the playroom. I was surprised to learn that someone had given it such a very low rating, and thought I would share my much better experience.
I too have heard a radio station coming in over the headphones, but only when I walked out of the living room with them on. Since this is an infrared device, meaning it only works within the 'line of sight' of the transmitter; I didn't expect it to work in another room. (Mind you, I would like to have a radio frequency [RF] model of this because then I could hear the TV when I got up to go to the kitchen, but the extra cost doesn't seem justified.)
I'm no audiophile. I have a nice Steinhauser headphone that I use with my iPod, and this headset doesn't hold a candle to it. But then, I'm not listening to nuanced music on this thing, I'm listening to TV. And for that purpose, this does exactly what I want - it gives my hearing-impaired husband and I the opportunity to have the TV volume off while each of us listens through our own headphones, each adjusted to the perfect volume we need to be able to hear all the dialogue. This allows us to watch TV together. And for that purpose, it works perfectly.
The headphones have another limitation. Each uses 2 AAA batteries. So, if you're as forgetful as I am, and neglect to turn the headphones off whenever you're done using them, you'll go through a set of batteries every other day. But if you turn them off faithfully, you can get a month or more of three-hour-a-night use out of them before they need their batteries replaced.
