Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of B&W 77mm #110 3.0 (1000x) Neutral Density Glass Filter.Customer Review: 10 stops of slowness Summary: 5 Stars
This high quality filter, that cuts out 10 stops of light, opens up a whole new world of creativity, especially for me as I live near the coast and like to photograph seascapes. With this filter I can create wonderful abstract images of misty waves breaking over the rocks, and in sunny daylight conditions, with exposures of up to 30 seconds and over. It is so easy to use and lives up to all expectations. There is a slight shift in colour, but can be easily rectified in Photoshop. It is perfect for capturing any movement of water; waves, rivers, waterfalls etc., as well as blurring movement in street scenes, and possibly even removing moving crowds from scenic shots. Others with more imagination than I, could surely put it to many creative uses.
Customer Review: Great 10 stop ND Filter Summary: 5 Stars
Nice filter with great 10 stops of light reduction.
As noted in other reviews, you do end up with a warmer image which can be corrected in post, but so far I like it and have kept the warming effect on most of my images so far.
Does not vignette on my Nikon 17-35mm f2.8 (on a full frame Nikon D3S), even when stacked with a Hoya UV0 filter.
So far, the lack of coating has not been an issue.
To give you an idea of how it performs...at the beach (light grey sand, sunny day), pointed towards the sun, I'm getting something like 25 seconds at f22 and iso 100, and perpendicular to the sun I got around 30 seconds at f13, iso 100.
Customer Review: Quality all the way Summary: 5 Stars
Terrific results that one would have a hard time getting on a sunny day without it. It also tames industrial scenes just like it was designed for.
On an artistic level, 10 stops allows for some serious creativity.
And just like every other B+W filter I own it's built like a tank...and short of dropping it in the ocean it will probably be with me forever.
Customer Review: Great filter for long exposures Summary: 4 Stars
This is my first B+W purchase, and the build quality of the filter is simply top notch. It cuts out a little more light than specified (closer to 11-stops than 10-stops based on my initial tests), and causes a slight color shift. If not for the color shift, this would be a 5-star review.
Customer Review: Heavy color cast. Summary: 4 Stars
It does what is says it does, but I would like to warn that it does have a color cast, like every other heavy ND filter out there. Just be warned. Otherwise this is an amazing product, no extra flair ghosting, etc..
