Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Aurora AS890C 8-Sheet Cross-Cut Paper/Credit Card Shredder with BasketCustomer Review: Great paper shredder at a great price Summary: 5 Stars
OK, I was a fool who didn't follow directions. I slipped this baby post-it notes for months before it jammed on me. I knew I wasn't supposed to, but did anyway. Mea culpa. I am going to buy a new one, and follow directions to a T. I'll have no problems, this go-round. It shreds paper, credit card and even cds w/no trouble whatsoever. I love it. You will, too. Just remember, no stickies, no labels on envelopes. If you follow directions, you'll love it. If you don't follow directions, you only have yourself to blame! It really isn't that onerous. :)
Customer Review: Does the job Summary: 4 Stars
This is pretty much everything I personally need it to be. It shreds several sheets of paper at once, it shreds cards, and it has a fairly large capacity but fits under my desk. My only complaint is that it sometimes stops shredding too abruptly and leaves a little behind, but I have not had any trouble getting to activate as some others have reported.
Overall, I think it performs very well and is a good price. Definitely an item worth owning with rampant identity theft, and I strongly suggest the cross or diamond cut over an older "strips" model.
Customer Review: Aurora AS890C 8 Sheet Crosscut Paper/Credit Card Shredder with Basket Summary: 3 Stars
The Aurora AS890C 8 Sheet Crosscut Paper/Credit Card Shredder with Basket works well. I had an Aurora shredder before, then tried a couple of other brands and I will definitely use Aurora from now on. Until it arrived, I couldn't really tell how this model compared to the model I liked so much (that died a while ago and I didn't write down the model number), and it is not as durable. I seem to be hard on shredders, and this is holding up, so for the price and the satisfaction with the brand, I think it will be a reliable shredder for me for a while.
Customer Review: Broken Summary: 2 Stars
Haven't used it more than ten times. One day I got a jam and tried to pull the paper out and heard something snap inside. Now it won't work. Im guessing it was the sensor that snapped since the reverse function works fine. Either way, this is my second cheapo shredder that broke on me. I decided to finally just pay the big bucks and get a decent jam-proof cross cut shredder Fellowes MS-460Ci 100% Jam Proof Micro-Cut Shredder (32406).
Customer Review: broken right out of the box Summary: 1 Stars
The first time I used it, it choked on a regular credit card offer. I reversed it and it still wouldn't move. I managed to pull out the chunks of paper with a needle-nose pliers, and shredded a few more pieces of paper, removing everything from envelopes and shredding no more than two pieces of paper at a time. It got stuck again on the clear plastic window of an envelope. Now it has come to a complete standstill, and when I hit auto or reverse, nothing happens, not even a scary grinding noise. Hope it will be easy to return!
