Customer Review: Frustrating piece of equipment

If you're an anal retentive paper shredder, this is the machine for you. If you're like most people that don't sit directly in front of the shredder meticulously feeding one sheet at a time, at just the right angle this shredder will annoy you to no end. If the moon, sun and stars are not perfectly aligned, it will not activate, and when it jams up (and it WILL jam up) you're looking a a significant amount of time trying to get it to work again. You would think they would make it easier to un-jam. Oh there is the reverse feature which, of course, rarely works in a jam.
It reminds me of my mom's 1997 Cavalier, poorly designed, with "features" that are totally useless.

I bought this Aurora to replace one that'd stopped working from old age. They're nothing alike in quality or perfomance, this isn't a crosscut shredder - it shreds paper into medium length rectangular strips (like a straight cut shredder) which are long enough such that the right (or wrong) one can contain a full name or mailing address! It's also very poorly built - I went to lift it up and the plastic cover (over the head) came off! I have had it for less than 6 months, I'll tinker with it and try to fix it otherwise it goes into the trash and I'm back in the market for a new (and better) shredder. The noise level didn't bother me - it's a shredder it's going to be noisy...Customer Review: no complaints = 5 stars, a true bargain if it meets your needs

I am giving this unit 5 starts not for what it has done, but for what it has not done: it has not jammed, broken, hiccupped, or annoyed me in any way. I was wary of purchasing a sub-$50 shredder for my home office, but the specs looked exactly like what I needed. 8 sheets at a time or 1 credit card at a time is sufficient, and money was tight.
I've had this unit now for about a week and have shredded a few hundred pages and a couple of credit cards with no issues. If I could change anything about it, I would make it quieter. That being said, I would definitely buy it again exactly like it is. I doubt there is another one this good for the price.

This paper shredder is everything I hopped it would be. It is much quieter then the one we had been using, and can handle several pages of mail with little effort. I didn't expect it to handle an unopened envelope or a lot of pages of mail at one time, but it can. It does sound much louder when you over load it, and I would suggest not doing so. I like the clear window in the front to let you know when it is getting full and the container is large enough for normal amounts of weekly mail.
We have had this for awhile and it has never jammed up on us.
For the money, this is a great item and has been working perfectly for our family.

When I got this shredder I loved it. We shredded things for a couple of weeks off and on. It did shred very good. The pieces are small so they will never be read again.
It shredded credit cards too. I liked everything about this little shredder until we emptied it the first time. After being emptied it would not start. It went in reverse but no more forwards. We followed the directions in the book and waited twenty minutes and tried to shred a piece of paper - nothing.
Finally we decided it had to go back. It's very disappointing to like a product and have it quit after a few weeks. I would not buy another one like this at all.
