Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Aurora AS890C 8-Sheet Cross-Cut Paper/Credit Card Shredder with BasketCustomer Review: Don't buy Summary: 1 Stars
I would NOT recommend this item. I had to return it twice. First time, the plastic covering the wires of the shredder were easily exposed. The second shredder would not stop trying to shred despite there being no paper. I try all the trouble shooting technique listed on their website such as running cardboard or paper with couple drops of vegetable oil to reset the sensor w/o any success. I only had the shredder less than a week. I would not buy this brand. I'm going to get myself a Fellowes shredder.
By the way, the machine is loud. I know it's a shredder but I should not be able to hear it from across the house.
If you decide to get this despite all the warning, keep the box in case something breaks in less than a week like me.
Customer Review: Don't buy this product! Summary: 1 Stars
After reading the reviews for this product, I thought it would be ideal for my personal home use, and it worked for the most part. Until! After a month when going through a number of old junk mail, it clogged and I had to manually unclog it. Then when it tipped over the entire shredder came apart. It was such a mess, that I was afraid to try to reasemble it. I called their 1-800 number to get a replacement seeing that this item is still under warranty. They refused to honor the warranty, and would not work with me to have the product replaced. The item is top heavy and if tipped over will shatter to pieces.
So do not buy this product and expect to get appropriate customer service if there is a problem.
Customer Review: It's not bad but it did quit on me. Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this shredder July 14th. It just quit working Nov of the same year. Thank goodness I got it fm WalMart and I was told I could exchange it.
The noise level isnt all that great but its OK. Does a good job with the shredding. If you dont want someone to be able to recreate a paper or document, this criss cross shredding does the trick. The amount of papers you can put in it is decent.
I only have a problem with papers I get in the mail that are larger than normal. The ones that have the advertisements wont fit in the shredder unless you fold it over.
Ill be taking the one I have back to Wally today and plan to get another one exactly the same. Hopefully I just got a bad one.
Customer Review: Paper Shredder Review Summary: 4 Stars
This is the 4th paper shredder I've owned in ~10 years and it does a pretty good job. I've found that with the amount of paper I shred, they only last about 3 years, then I end up killing them. This is why I chose this particular shredder: the cost. I refuse to spend a lot of money on a product that I know I'll kill in a few years. It's loud, but all shredder are. The only thing I don't particularly care for is there is no pull-out drawer for the shredded items. You have to turn off the machine, then lift the shredding engine off to empty the shredder. Not a huge deal and I'm sure there's no easy-pull-out drawer because it's not a pricey model. For the cost, it's a great option!
Customer Review: I've had the worst luck with 2 of these shredders! Must be me!? Summary: 2 Stars
Long and short: I purchased my first from Amazon and it arrived quickly but after 5 or so minutes of shredding it just stopped and wouldn't work at all. I waited over an hour to see if the auto protection had kicked in for some reason but it never worked again. I ordered a replacement and it arrived within 24 hours (thank you Amazon Prime) but the replacement doesn't seem any better! I am returning it as well.
It must be my luck since we purchased one for a family member as a gift over a month ago and he has done a ton of shredding with no problems.
Its hard for me to give it a review since I know of one that worked perfect and the 2 that I got did not.
