The first one I had died mysteriously after shredding 1 credit card, but Amazon was helpful with a replacement and was quick to reimburse my return shipping cost. The one I have now seems to be working fine. Considering the price I'm happy with the shredder - it feels solid and seems to handle occasional use as expected. Remember to keep the box just in case! There's bound to be a few defects in the production process at this price point.
If this one hangs on I'd bump it up a star. (Or down one if it doesn't!)

This is a decent shredder. I like that it is compact and it has performed reasonably well. It does not always sense the papers right away though it works most of the time. If I had a lot of documents to shred, I would probably need to get a different shredder. This one really sounds like it is struggling (compared to other home-office shredders I have used). However, I purchased this for a reasonable price on Amazon and it has been suitable for personal use - occasional credit cards, documents, receipts and the like.Customer Review: Its a shredder and it shreds 8)

We have not had it long but so far its doing the job (shredding normal everyday house info: personal info, credit card offers, etc...) Our last unit went 8 years so if this one goes half as long we will be happy. Personally I would like a shredder that vaporizes the info to near dust and has cool effects lol. This one will take 4 sheets and grunts but it gets thru it. Like the title says its a shredder and it shreds I did hope as a cross cut it would do smaller pieces but for the price... The motor is too weak for shredding most unopened junk mail. Today the shredder finally died just like everyone predicted in their reviews and I am left wishing I would have bought a quality product. After jamming on an envelope with 7 layers of paper I had to use the "reverse" function which self destructed the machine. The top literally broke off and all the wires and guts are hanging everywhere. Now I am using the paper bin as a trash can, so it's not a total loss. This is a nice shredder at a good price. It's perfect for home use.
The "cross-cut" shredding is good security for your documents. The 8-page capacity is great for shedding credit card offers and bank statements.
I have had this shredder over a year and have had good service from it. It's not as powerful or sturdy as other shredders I have had in the past (all professional grade), but for the price, I think it's an excellent value. It's certainly good enough to work in your home.
