Customer Review: Bad Quality Control?

I have owned this shredder for two years. Out of the box it jammed after less than one minute of shredding with three sheets stuck and would not reverse them out. It went to warranty service and came back. They told me that under no circumstances should I shred more than ONE sheet at a time. Lesson 1 in shredders, do not believe and whatever you do, do not try to shred the number of sheets the manufacturer claims it will handle. After the unit came back, I only inserted one sheet at a time, but after perhaps feeding 5-6 sheets it became so hot I was concerned about something inside melting or self destructing. Tt would accept 5-6 sheets, then need a half hour to cool. Then, about two weeks later, it quit. Trip two to warranty repair. This time it was in repair for over two weeks, but came back doing exactaly as it did when it went it. Overheating. Back to warranty repair, third time. I was told this time to not bring it back again. Huh? What kind of warranty service is that? It appeared they had replaced the entire shredding system inside the unit. And, thankfully, it ran without overheating and using one sheet at a time it did just fine for nearly two years. Then, last week, it jammed and the shredding unit popped itself off and either stripped the screws holding it onto its base assembly or the screws had come loose over time. Either way, the top was loose and I could see that one of the plastic gears had about a third of the teeth stripped and there was a chewing gum size wad of paper that had jammed in the shredding teeth. It was dead. Since it was off warranty, I decided to bury it. Figuratively.
From reading reviews of various Aurora products, it seems clear there is a quality control issue. Aurora is a US company, but the shredders are made in China. Reviewers either love the things or despise them and have problems from early on. I am upgrading to a "10 sheet" unit, but again, will only be feeding single sheets and under no circumstances CD's or credit cards. Why tempt fate? For those who say regulations are bad, well, they should have a look at the shredder industry. It is nothing less than a blatant misrepresentation to make the claims this industry does with respect to the number of sheets of paper which may be fed into these units at one time. They should be forced to prove their claims before being allowed to make them.
Overall, I would have given this unit 3 stars had it not required 3 trips to warranty repair prior to actually working properly. Once it worked properly, it worked for two years, one sheet at a time......

Insert as many as eight pages into the 8.7-inch entry slot and watch through the viewing window as the paper is quickly sliced across and down into 1/5 inch scraps. Perfect Size for Home or Small Office
The shredder's black color and moderate size (12 x 7 x 16 inches) make it a tasteful and practical addition to a small home or office space. A 59-inch power cord allows you to store it far from power outlets. When the time comes to empty the attached wastebasket, a full-bag indicator light will alert you. But with a 125-sheet-capacity wastebasket, you won't need to empty it often.
For maximum convenience, you can simply leave the shredder in auto start mode. Each time paper is inserted, a sensor will activate the blades.
