I bought this shredder to shred a couple grocery bagsful of records. I've never owned a shredder before, so it took a little practice to figure out the limits of this little machine. I jammed it a couple times in the beginning and ended up having to pick the jammed pieces out of the blades with a pair of long tweezers, but once I figured out that it would only do 4-5 pages at a time and that feeding crumpled or wrinkled pieces risked a jam unless fed separately and carefully, I breezed along without any problems. I heeded others comments about not using it for too long at a time and never had any problems with overheating. The receptacle is not large, about the size of a small bathroom wastebasket, but I see this as a plus. It's extremely easy to lift off the shredder and decant the shreds into a larger bag or place the shredder over a bigger container. The small size makes storage much easier when not in use. A fine shredder for everyday household use.Customer Review: Use it for paper. NOT plastic.

I've had this for almost a year, so I guess I've gotten my money's worth. Take it from someone who uses this a few times a week. It does shred paper, but not 8 sheets at a time. It's more like 4 sheets at a time. Also, if you shred envelopes with that plastic overlay (for the address to be seen through it) it occasionally gets clogged. In fact, if I have a lot of junk mail from the past few weeks or paper from work to shred, I spend just as much time trying to take out the clogged scraps of paper as I do actually putting paper in the shredder. I always turn it off and clean it out using a large paper clip. And credit cards and CD's?! HA! What a joke! I've tried several credit cards. They come out with several scratches on them, but STILL intact. I end up using heavy duty scissors for those. So, this is an OK machine, but definitely not for anyone who has heavy-duty shredding needs and DEFINITELY not for shredding any type of plastic.Customer Review: GREAT SHREDDER

I needed a small home office shredder to replace an old one that broke so I cheaped out and bought the Universal 6-Sheet (see my review on that piece of junk). I returned that and bought this Aurora and man, what a difference. I've only had it for a day and have not had a chance to use the CD shredder (but I did shred a credit card). This is a quality shredder and I am very happy with it. My only criticism is that the basket is far too small so I use it on top of a medium size bin instead. It has the capability to extend so it can fit on a variety of other baskets or bins. Having said that, the extender arm is a little flimsy and seems to be struggling to hold its own wait when extended (sort of like if you were sitting in a chair and had your foot up on something with your leg straight and someone was sitting on your knee - ouch). Hopefully it will hold up. But the shredder itself is high quality from what I can see.Customer Review: Too bad, so sad

This item shipped promptly and arrived in good condition. It cheerfully shredded the accumulated piles of paper that I'd been saving for its arrival. I was in love with its performance and its price. But. Without warning, it started jamming. I patiently tried to clean its little teeth to see if there was something in there that was misguiding the automatic feed. No luck. I tried folding paper and inserting it on the one side that seemed to be working (not jamming) -- but then that side also conked out. It had been in use for about 10 days, off and on, with instructions (no more than 8 sheets, etc.) followed to a T. Too bad, so sad. I am boxing it up and returning it. When it worked it was great. When it stopped working, it became worthless. The Aurora AS810SD/ is a very good product. I had look at paper shredders in the neighborhood where I live what I found was, paper shredders at this price I was tole was cheap and ineffective even for things like one sheet of paper, that they were always jamming. The shredders like the aurora was way out of my price range going for $60 to $100.00. But at amazon I was able to purchase theAurora AS810SD 8-Sheet Strip Cut Paper/CD/Credit Card Shredder with Basketfor 29.95 it has been marvelous, It works very efficiently taking on up to 8 sheets of paper at one time. Note: {that is that the Aura can shred 8 sheets at one time, I never insert this many sheets though}. I highly recommend this product for home use also I think it would prove to be very applicable & efficient even In a small business or office setting
