Customer Review: Good Desktop Shredder for Receipts

I purchased this shredder to replace an old Royal shredder that literally fell apart. I actually found it hard to find a shredder that was compact and cross-cut the paper. I settled on this shredder due to the feature set, price, and other positive reviews.
I noticed a lot of reviews about people complaining that they had to fold a piece of paper in half to shred it. It's pretty clear that was the case, and based on the size of the shredder I can't imagine why anyone would think it was designed to shred full sheets of paper natively.
This shredder is PERFECT for a basic desktop shredder. I use the shredder to shred receipts, credit card offers, and any other item that has personal information on it. That is exactly what I used my last desktop shredder for, and would imagine that's the primary purpose for any "desktop" shredder.
This shredder is compact, relatively quiet, and shreds just fine. The cross-cut isn't as fine as my last shredder, but it gets the job done. It has a safety cut-off switch, so that when you remove the shredder from the basket, it will not turn on. The handle folds down into the shredder to leave it with a smooth top.
One oddity I found was that it came with what I assume is some kind of cleaning instrument. What's odd about it is that the documentation does not mention this tool ANYWHERE. In fact, it even says not to try to clean out the teeth of the shredder. Weird.
My only two complaints are that the cross-cut shreds aren't as fine as I'd like, and when the unit is in the "ON" position there is a green LED that stays lit.
I recommend this shredder to anyone looking for a good desktop shredder for receipts and junk mail.

This is my first paper shredder so I can't compare it to any other models out there. However, I've had it for a few months & now think I can make a useful contribution as to how good this product is & what it's good for.
I'll dive right in to the good & bad in plain bullet points, bang! bang!
The Good:
* I like the product design; clean & clear!
* Not at all a loud machine.
* The handle & the side pockets may be simple touches to some, but they're thoughtful & come in handy at times.
* Shreds paper & (credit) cards.
* Good quality at affordable price.
* Oh, I also like the included cleaning tool.
The Bad:
* No personal complaints as it meets my needs but may not necessarily meet yours!
Things You Need To Know:
* This shredder is advertised as having "4.5-inch throat width." What that means to you? Well, in order for you to shred a standard letter size paper (8.5 x 11), you gonna need to fold by two thirds to fit it in.
* It's a COMPACT "Desktop-Style" shredder,ie, light, home use. It's better suited for junk mail disposal.
* It DOES NOT cross-cut so buyer beware!! It makes shorter strips but that's all. It's still fine by me.
My Verdict:
I hereby sentence this product to four stars! It's affordable, functional & fits my needs. Great for light home use & junk mail disposal. However, I would've given it five stars if it would've actually produced Cross-Cuts but it doesn't. I suggest they adjust the ad to reflect that fact which a number of other customers made known.
Customer Review: Cross Cut Is Misleading

I thought cross cut meant the shredder cut diagonal strips, but the strips are the same as a strip shredder's, just shorter. A photo on the box shows strips from a credit card looking like diagonal strips. But, credit cards must be inserted vertically and are cut straight up and down. Because the text and numbers on them are not perpendicular to the shredder blades, but parallel, the strips come out with text and numbers placed horizontally - easily readible.
Text and numbers have to be perpendicular to the blades when paper is inserted in order to avoid readible lines on the strips of paper. By now, most people are aware that 8x10 paper has to be folded or cut to fit the feeder entry of this shredder. I prefer to cut so that there is no fold to create strips twice as wide as the others. I also cut the strips when emptying the basket to make them smaller.
The blades get clogged and have to be cleaned if you shred a small stack of documents. But, taking everything into consideration, this shredder is a good buy and good quality. The price is cheap, it's sturdy but compact, and adjusting to perpendicular placemant, occasional blade clogging, and cutting or folding 8x10 paper are acceptable inconveniences. Amazon got it to me within 2 or 3 days with free shipping!

First of all, thanks to Amazon for the great promotional price for this paper shredder! What a best deal I ever have!! It arrived really fast too!! I really love this mini paper shredder compared to the bigger one I had before. This one is so light-weight which I can easily handle and carry around. But do expect that the mouth for shredding is not wide enough to insert a whole regular letter size paper. First, I tried to fold the paper by three times for shredding, but noticed that some shredded papers show the whole word or number. Then I found that it was even better to just cut the paper in 4 pieces and put all these 4 pieces to shred at once. It then didn't show any whole word or number on the shredded papers. This little machine works really well!! If you don't mind a very tiny bit of additional trouble on the folding or cutting the paper before shredding, then this is a perfect paper shredder I would strong recommend you to get.Customer Review: Excellent Little Shredder

After our Royal shredder just died one day without warning, we were looking for an inexpensive replacement and found this model. It sells for less than half of most other models and we have found it to shred just as effectively as the larger, more expensive shredders. The catch is that the opening on this shredder is half the normal width (half the width of a standard piece of paper). This means that you have to fold papers in half length-wise before inserting them into the shredder. Also, it can only handle one sheet at a time so this is definitely a light-duty shredder for occasional home use only. However, if you are willing to accept those two limitations, then you are getting a great little shredder that shreds paper as well as the larger models, that takes up very little room and can sit on a desktop, and that costs only $30. Taking all of this into account, we find this to be q perfect little shredder for our needs.
