Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Audioengine W1 Wireless Audio Adapter

Customer Review: Good product but not for my use
Summary: 3 Stars

I used the Audio Engine for sending web radio on my laptop to my stereo receiver. It was fairly easy to set up once I got yellow-red wire harness to plug to my receiver. And it worked! Sound was great! But my wireless laptop lost internet connection. I called Audio Engine and they got back to me within a few hours and suggested I use a USB extention to plug in the sender from my laptop thereby avoiding the conflicts with receiving my network. This worked....kinda....ok. I decided it was too much hassle. I would use this product if my desk top computer was in a more convienent location to enjoy internet radio content or music downloaded to my hard drive.
It really does work well and I would recommend it. It just didn't serve me well at this time.

Customer Review: A very handy and worthwhile device!

After a long search for a wireless unit to connect my iPod to my home audio system, I decided to give this one a try. I had hoped to locate a wireless dock/receiver set designed to couple iPods specifically to a number of optional systems and this was the closest item to serve my purpose with several options I desired. It has functioned flawlessly while connected to my stereo, my iPod and also with my laptop. The sound quality is as good to my ears as a wired connection. Setup could not be simpler. The cords supplied were a pleasant surprise. My only complaint, if you could call it a complaint, is that the receiving and sending units each require a USB power supply and the packaged unit is supplied with only one.

Customer Review: Worked perfectly in less than 3 minutes!

Opened the box. Inserted the sender into one of my macbook's usb slots. Selected the correct sound source from system preferences. Inserted the receiver into the other gizmo, which got plugged into the wall. Connected that to my Cambridge radio, which is wired to my Polk powered speakers. Great music from Pandora in about 2 minutes, maybe 3 minutes. The sender and receiver were only 20 feet apart and there was only one wall between the two, but I expect that this product will come through as I extend the distance. Will amend my comment if I detect a problem doing this. Paid $99, which is considerably cheaper than Bose's solution, although they do provide the speaker. Definitely recommend this product.

After searching for something to replace my Linksys Music Bridge (which would not work on Windows 7) I found a few devices that would would wirelessly connect my music files to my stereo but were more than I cared to spend. I came across this wireless adapter that requires no software to be installed. It is simply a tiny audio card on a usb transmitter with a a usb receiver that uses RCA plugs into the amplifier itself. Power for the receiver is by the computer's usb port and for the receiver, an AC wall socket. Plug in each and start your music player on your computer and you are done. Simple and sounds great.

Customer Review: Works exactly as advertised

I'm using this as a very long patch cord alternative to connect a powered subwoofer to my AV receiver. I plugged in both units, powered up the AVR, the blue lights stopped blinking, and it worked. The subwoofer correctly turns itself on when a low-frequency effects signal is present across the wireless connection, then turns itself off again when the signal goes idle, exactly as it would with a real physical cable connection. Yes, it's seemingly expensive, but it works precisely as you want it to, is nicely engineered, and doesn't cause any problems. It reminds me of an Apple product.
