Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Audio Technica ATR288W VHF Battery-Powered TwinMic Microphone SystemCustomer Review: A Decent Wireless System Summary: 4 Stars
I needed a second wireless lavaliere mic system for my commercial and wedding videography business. This mic fit the bill pretty well. I had the benefit of already using a model that another producer owned and enjoyed using on indoor shoots, including one that he hired me to camera op and run sound on. The mic itself has a decent range, and is able to hold its clarity fairly well indoors. Once you run outside, or out of its range though, you can run into some serious interference. The option of only two different broadcasting frequencies also is a bit of a hindrance, but then again, when working at close enough quarters and indoors, this won't really be an issue for you. Also, the addition of the hand held mic was definitely worth the few extra bucks I ended up paying over the base wireless model without it. It's a pretty basic dynamic microphone, which means no batteries necessary, and it can be used with multiple different wireless units, like my Sennheiser Camcorder Wireless Body-pack System with ME2 Omni Lavaliere, or can be plugged directly into a mixer, the camera, or a computer for some dubbing work. It's not an amazing mic, by any means, but it's a good one, and works extremely well for filming well-wishes at weddings.
