Customer Review: excellent stands for the money

I bought three sets of these, 1 black and two titanium. They are easy to put together, although the black set gave me some trouble threading the uprights into the bases. The threads jammed up with paint and I had to use some lube and repeatedly thread back and forth to get them fully engaged. One caution: these will not fit speakers that are not rectangular very well. The Sony speakers for my home theater fit perfectly with the enclosed hardware. The second and third sets were used on the Altec Lansing speakers for my computer system and the spears are teardrop shaped and mounted on an oval ring stand. I had to cut plywood squares, screw them to the stand plates and then wire tie the oval rings to the plywood. But the stands did the job, getting the speakers off the wall and desk and concealing the wires, as well as allowing proper surround sound placement.

Long story short, I looked for days online to find speaker stands, and the value I got on these stands blew any other deals out of the water. I actually purchased stands from Target, got a look at them, then returned them for these stands. I saved a ton of money (ended up with 4 stands for about 4 bucks more than 2 stands at Target), and the stands are almost identical, looks and functionality-wise. I was a little worried about the store reviews, since it's not sold directly by Amazon...but I got the stands brand new, and very quickly. Stands themselves are solid, powder steel coating, grayish black color, the wire threads through the bottom. Supposedly only useable for smaller satellite speakers, but I have 8" satellites mounted on them, mountable with either double sided tape or screws. Really as long as you center the speaker on the stand properly they'll be fine.Customer Review: Functional with industrial aesthetic

I'll just echo other posters' comments. These things are highly adjustable, and the bases are shaped and weighted to accommodate a satellite speaker that hangs out in the direction opposite the weighting.
Order these stands only if you're handy; the variety of fittings that come with the stands may not be the right kind for your situation. My wife, for example, had to scrounge some extra washers and extra long screws from a friend, then manually deform the the washers with a hammer to secure our new HK TS 18 satellites to the stands.
The rough-textured, dark gray paint on the stands is OK if you don't need or want to have the stands themselves be stylish furniture. If your sense of style demands it, buy some spray paint that matches your decor and go to town.

These work fine (as I write this, it tells me that I am reviewing the titanium version, but I actually bought the black). The extension feature works just like a microphone stand, if you've ever operated one of those ... I wanted to use them fully extended, and they don't stay straight when fully extended (there is a slight kink in the middle because of the minimal overlap between the two sections of tubing), but it's not too noticable with the stand placed in the corner. I expected that I would have to get "custom" hardware to attach my speakers, which was correct. Running the wire up the tube portion of the stand keeps things nice and neat. The base is heavy enough to keep the stand stable on carpet with my smallish satellite speakers.Customer Review: Look no further folks....

Paid almost nothing for these and Amazon shipped them free. I was expecting to get what I paid for and boy was I ever wrong. These stands are REALLY nice for the money.
I have thick carpet and when extended almost all the way up they are just fine with no worries of them falling over. My speakers didn't have any of the mounting holes but I used a combination of the double sided tape and a small screw with the supplied washer through the back bracket to secure them and it worked just fine.
Kudos to the person who posted the photo of the actual color as that really sealed the deal.
To say that I am pleased doesn't begin to describe it. These stands at this price.. what an absolute bargain!!
