I liked the first one of these I purchased so much that I bought a second one. At about $40 it's a great deal. Assembly is fairly easy and you only need 1 phillips screw driver, but be prepared to spend 1 to 1.5 hours on it. The hardest part of the assembly is strangely enough the very first piece you put together. Have someone help you with that piece just to avoid a bit of frustration.
I recommend wearing some latex/faux-latex gloves because the finish will tend to come off on your fingers if you work with the wood directly. The directions are pretty good, although there are some common sense things that would have been nice if they had explicitly spelled out for you (i.e. certain pieces should be facing a certain way for later assembly steps). It's not a big deal as you can easily reverse the piece, but it's mildly annoying. There are also certain stages of the assembly where the pieces are being held together only by wooden dowels, so be careful with your manipulation lest it come apart. It's also compressed wood, so don't go crazy and over-tighten, especially the parts where you use the cams. I noticed that those holes aren't always machined well so there's some mild stress on the wood when you tighten the cam. It won't compromise the stand, but it always makes you a bit nervous.
I also noticed that inevitably there are scuffs, stress on the finish, and other imperfections in the wood. Honestly though, once you put the whole thing together, it looks great and you won't ever notice it. It's fairly short, inconspicuous, and people tend not to even notice it until I point it out. So don't be afraid to plop it right into your living room. It has the added bonus of matching my other furniture with the espresso finish.
In terms of utility, as I briefly mention in the title, it holds all of my Xbox360, Wii, PS2, DVD, Blu-Ray, TV series box sets, movie box sets, pretty much anything that will fit in the compartment. You aren't limited by anything except for the size of the cube/shelf. It rotates nicely and can be very close to the walls without hitting it while rotating. I think I can squeeze in a third one of these once I fill up the second one. Highly recommend this, especially if you want something that looks nice, has excellent utility, and matches your furniture.
