Great directions. I put it together by myself (I'm a 51 year old woman) in 1 hr 15 minutes. I am grateful to the other reviewers telling me to put something under the cabinet to cushion it when I turned it over to put the back on.
The only thing I could have asked for different was a darker color as it would have matched my other furniture better. However, it is a very nice cabinet and holds a LOT of DVD's and CD's.

I purchased this bookcase based on many reviews. I'm sorry I have to disagree, but the assembly is a nightmare. The item is made from flimsy particleboard. There is really no stability to the unit. The connecting cam screws are made of plastic which actually cracked in two. I returned the item and purchased two similar cases from Ikea for about $10 more, however there is no comparison. This cabinet went together pretty quickly/easily and actually seems pretty solid. I would definitely recommend that you put a few books underneath the shelf while putting on the backing; otherwise you end up putting a lot of stress on the bottom lip of the cabinet. This storage cabinet arrived well-packed in a heavy box. It went together in 15 minutes quite easily. Since the base extends out further than the rest, I would suggest laying the unit flat across a workbench or table with the lip hanging over so you can easily nail the 2 backing pieces on. These storage cabniets are attractive, versatile and very easy to build. The compact design provides maximun storage without taking up a lot of space. I use mine (six of them so far) for dvd's, vhs tapes, and books.
