I recently wrote the following at another site re slightly larger computers. It is a testament to the brilliance of the iPod Touch so I reproduce it here. The instant bootup may be a bigger advantage than meets the eye. I have the HP 2133 and have been checking other smaller netbooks. My intention is to have a truly portable, always available, unit to do specialized functions, mainly take notes and write thoughts as they come up, and keep up with the net and my email. All the hardware out there defeats these purposes because the bootup is so slow; indeed sometimes painfully slow like when updates are available and being automatically downloaded. Surprisingly I find myself using my iPod Touch more and more to satisfy at least 80 or 90 percent of my needs, even short notes. In the meantime the 2133 sits on a shelf (and when I do turn it on it goes for up to an hour updating and diagnosing itself). Because of this I considered the new Fujitsu Lifebook 820. If it had the responsiveness of my iPod Touch I would have bought it in an instant! But it runs on Vista! I don't need a full function portable when I am in the street. Surprisingly I found myself wondering if Windows CE (which the unit I was commenting on plans to include) may not be what the doctor called for, at least until Apple comes out with a netbook with a slightly bigger screen than that of the iPod!Customer Review: AWESOME!!!!

I took baby steps, first I got the iPod Shuffle, Nano 1st generation, Nano 3rd generation and now I have the ultimate Apple iPod Touch 16 GB (2nd Generation)! Wow what a difference. The screen is unbelievably crystal clear and bright. The volume buttons located in the side of the unit is one great improvement from using the clicking wheel to adjust the volume. The built-in speaker is great since now you can listen to music, watch videos and play games without using earplugs. You have to remember though since this is so slim that the speaker has to be tiny and because of that it does not produce the best audio quality, but that is what you earplugs are for. The speaker comes in handy when wanting to preview a song, video or if you want to share something that has sound with your friends. Has a long battery life, it can last for more than a week just using a few hours a day. The tilt and turn feature that follows your movements is incredible. I am not going to go on and on about this review since so many have already mentioned the great features the iPod Touch has and I agree with all of them. Thanks to the great reviews and comments that were made, I am trilled I purchased this and now I sit here wondering what am I going to do with all my older models. :-)Customer Review: Excellent Product, Shipping Time 8 Days

I've been a Zune User for a very long time, and then I decided to buy an iPod touch. I couldn't have been more happy, and after I used it I realized how far Zune is behind the curve. The touch screen is very responsive, not to mention a joy to play with. There is a multitude of free software, and even the 8gb has enough space to store my music collection, a few videos, and 890 pictures, and the apps. My favorite freeware so far has to be Tap Tap game, which is like a combination of DDR and Guitar Hero. The screen is very nice, and doesn't scratch easily. So far, I've found no complaints with the product except one feature that I'd like added:
Shake it to shuffle, like the new iPod nano. The device has the capability to do this, but it hasn't been added for some strange reason.
Everything else was great.
The only hesitation I had of getting this was the fact that many people were complaining about how they wouldn't get theirs til november, and that Amazon's shipping was slow and their "in stock" label was misleading. The shipping estimation said that it would come in 8-9 days, with standard shipping, which is slow for amazon, but is alright. It came in 8 days.
DON'T LET THE SHIPPING SHENANIGANS KEEP YOU FROM ORDERING THIS!!

I bought two of these for our daughters for Christmas and have been very impressed with the quality of the product. If you are one who likes to keep things looking new, I would strongly suggest you also purchase one of the silicon cases and a touch screen cover to protect your investment - just getting the iTouch out of the box could permanently mar the finish on the product if you are not careful, not to mention normal use of the product. We got the Belkin case and it and proved to provide an excellent fit.
As with most highly technical products, the iTouch has it's glitches. Most of these for us have been a result of synching problems with iTunes on the PC. We've had to reset each iTouch more than one time to clear these. Once you take iTunes out of the picture, though, the iTouch has worked very well in the few weeks we've owned them. Battery life is remarkable for the size of the product when listening to music. If you are watching a full length movie, or playing games, it shortens dramatically. Fortunately you should be able to view an entire movie without having to plug in.
The wireless connectivity is great too with a nice range - over 200' for us, although it takes more battery power to use intensely. Overall a very nice device for the price.

I love my ipod. This thing is awesome. I have NO problems with it whatsoever. Advice, get a silicon case and a screen protector and you are all set. Every now and then I hit the wrong letter but for the most part no issue. You get used to it. I bought the 8gig only because I don't need any more than that. It's insane to get more than that for anyone who repeatedly plays the same songs and less of others. If you aren't using wifi just turn it off and the battery lasts much longer. I tend to charge this every day or every other day, sometimes 3 or more days after. The battery charging isn't an issue for me regardless. It's a small electronic device, what do you expect? The external volume control is okay. Not loud by any means but I suppose that is the point of getting the whole sound system for it. But the head phone volume is awesome, even too loud. And the earbuds are to big I think, that it hurts after a little while of wearing. Oh and when I first got it before uploading/downloading anything, at setup my computer told me it had only 7. Something of space, not 8gigs. minor detail but still misleading info of product. There are a decent amount of free apps to put on here. With all this said, I think anyone and everyone should have one. It's worth it.
