Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod touch 8 GB (2nd Generation--without iPhone OS 3.1 Software) [Previous Model]Customer Review: Amazing Product but One Flaw Summary: 5 Stars
I got the iPod touch just one month ago, and i dont know how i lived without it. I have been on it every day since i got it, i have'nt missed a single day. I sometimes forget about the music and just play the apps' and go on youtube, and also check the weather. But since it is so thin and slik it is easy to travel with and a great MP3 player. One of the best features is the built in speakers. I love them, its convient when you are with a group of people and you want to play music or a video outloud. The touch screen is perfect, you never find yourself pressing hard, to get the "key" you need to work. Meaning it is sensitive enough to work even with a light tap. Although the ipod is so great in many ways it does have one flaw. whenever you watch videos on the iPod, it uses a lot of the charge. So i constantly find myself charging it. but if you charge it completly then the batery last a lot longer, than if you charge it partly.
If you are debating between the 16gb and the 8gb, i would just get the 8gb because if you add videos and apps, that take up a lot of space and then you run out room you always can take them off your ipod and then when you want them back on you can just add them again. If you are planning on putting a lot of videos on your ipod though, you should get the ipod with more GB'S because videos do take up lots of space. I do love this product, you should think about getting one yourself.
Customer Review: What an excellent gadget! Summary: 5 Stars
Ive been using my Ipod Touch 2.0 for three weeks now. So far, so very good! I love the applications and the iTunes store. Video and music is 9/10. The games are fun and easy on the memory. Utilities are so novel and useful. And the most important thing: thousands of applications are free. My favorite application is Safari and whoa, connecting to and surfing the internet with my Ipod Touch is simply fast, even FASTER than using my Intel Centrino laptop that has 802.11 b/g. I agree with another reviewer who said that internet connecting and surfing with the Ipod Touch is fast and stable. I connect to the internet thru the Touch's wifi at home (where I have a modem-and-router DSL setup), at work in a UPS store, in my college campus, at Barnes and Noble, Borders, and Starbucks. I can easily connect to protected WPA and WEP networks, so long as I am granted the passkey, as easily as I can connect to public open networks like in the City of Galt. I love the on-screen keypad which is so easy to use. My only gripe is that it does not (yet) open flash content on certain sites, but Im sure that this shortcoming is an update away. Now even my 71-year old dad, who borrows my Touch to surf to his favorite sites like CNN and FoxNews, wants one for his birthday! The Ipod Touch is so easy and fun to use for people of all age groups be they elementary school children, college students, adult employees, and even 70-year olds!
Customer Review: Ipod Touch...More Than Music Summary: 5 Stars
Instead of writing a long review, here is my summary review of the Ipod Touch 2nd Generation:
The Good
+ Nice look and feel.
+ Audio is great quality (w/earbuds).
+ Wireless internet is easy to use & provides tons of benefits!
+ Access to itunes and application store directly using wifi
+ Touchscreen works really...really well.
+ Built in mail and calendar apps make it more than a music player!
+ Built in speaker is good enough for apps and games (not music though).
The Not So Good
- Doesn't always play well with "Made For Ipod devices". New devices will be made, but make sure it's for the touch.
- No fm radio feature - not a biggie, but some still like FM.
- No longer supports the "hard drive mode".
Bottom Line:
I have owned an (old school) Ipod before, and wasn't really impressed since it was basically an expensive MP3 player. The Ipod Touch blasts the product line into a new galaxy with the features and possibilities. I no longer think of the Ipod as an MP3 player, but rather more like a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). The overall value that Apple offers in the Ipod Touch is simply beyond comparison with anything else on the market in my opinion. If you have wireless internet at your house, dorm, etc... then you will be simple amazed at what you can do with your Ipod Touch.
Customer Review: ipod Touch Summary: 4 Stars
This is the coolest thing I've ever bought. It does everything - plays music, video, video games, Internet (e mail, You Tube, weather, etc.). And the funtionality of the touch screen is amazing.
I have a Blackberry Curve that I really like and use for phone and e mail but this ipod made my Blackberry look antequated in about 5 minutes of use.
The best thing about the ipod touch is watching videos on long plane trips. The battery life is about 5 hrs. The picture quality is excellent. You will be amazed. This beats watching video on your laptop by a mile.
The only small downsides I can find are as follows:
1. One tiny pixel has turned blue and it's a little distracting when watching vidoes. I'm concerned that this is going to happen over and over but it hasn't yet.
2. If you are in a confined space (airplane seat) you have to hold the ipod at the right angle for viewing - it's slippery and won't prop up very well. I got an Incase cover for it and that helps.
3. Memory - it does so much that you can fill up the memory really fast. I would suggest buying the 16G if you are on the fence.
4. It doesn't come with instructions - you have to go online if you have a question about how to use it.
These are small complaints, the positives outweigh the negatives by a mile - if you're thinking about getting one, do it now.
Customer Review: Amazing, and very useful Summary: 5 Stars
First let me say that having this makes me wish I had an iPhone (because I need Verizon, I cannot have one). This is such an amazing product. It is not only for entertainment, but also helps with many other things. My favorite thing about the Touch are the free applications. While I am not thrilled with the way you have to sync, etc., once I got the hang of it, it wasn't that bad. There are some really great utilities out there and they make having this VERY useful for me. I can use it to store pictures of things that I collect, and when I go to an auction to preview lots, etc., I can just call them up and compare them. Audiobooks are great. There is a Kindle application. This is probably the most useful piece of technology that I own, in respect of personal productivity. There are enough applications out there that you can customize this into a personal electronic assistant. I am simply amazed. And now that most hotels have a player, you can have your own music, etc.. Also, with many vehicles allowing you to run your music through the radio, you have fast, clear, music at your fingertips. Buy a screen protector to protect your investment....it's really great. Music is great. Video is sharp, and very easy to view. Viewing angle is not bad either. Some of the free games are also great! With all the free stuff, let me tell you, there are even better ones that cost relatively little.
