Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod touch 32 GB (2nd Generation) [Previous Model]Customer Review: Simply the best. Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this for three months now. I simply can't put it down.
I'm actually a big Apple hater. I'm proud that my last Apple product that I personally owned was an Apple II plus. Thats right. I skipped over 28 years of Apple products.
Why I love the Ipod Touch 2G:
1. Quite simply the wifi is near perfect. It seamlessly connects to my work, home, second work location, brother's house, mom's house. Unbelieveable.
2. The touch screen is frankly near perfect. By far the best touch screen EVER made. And I've tried a bunch from Nokia etc.
3. Web browsing is actually usable.
4. App store is groundbreaking.
5. Itunes is still the best, but needs real competition to push it further.
6. Battery life is very impressive for such a small device.
Cons:
1. No FLAC support.
2. Shinny. Seriously Apple.
3. Immediatly required a decent case and screen protector.
4. Changed charging spec. This is the bane of my existence.
The cons in no way outweigh the pros. It is a near perfect device.
Other thoughts:
You really don't need this large 32GB version if you don't have a large music library. The apps are so small that the 8GB one should suffice. I have about 144 apps on it and they only take up half a GB.

Apple iPod touch 32 GB (2nd Generation)
The product itself is wonderful and have no complaints about the Ipod.
What we do find rather disturbing was the fact that we thought we were purchasing an IPHONE and not an IPOD. When going onto your web site my husband called up IPHONE (unlocked) and the IPOD comes up in its place. He genuinely though he was purchasing an IPHONE as a Christmas gift for me - when it arrived we were shocked to find it was an IPOD. We then went back to your web site and called up IPHONE and once again it takes you to the IPOD. This is rather devious marketing to say the least and we are very disappointed, firstly at our own stupidity, but mostly at the devious marketing ploy. As we live overseas and were just visiting the States for Christmas, and as the IPOD is really a good product we decided to keep the IPOD - however, would think twice about using your web site for further purchase.
The product did not arrive on the arranged delivery date and we had to follow up on the product via phone, but it did eventually arrive.
Very disappointed with our very first internet purchase and will never be taken again.

Customer Review: Everything I expected... for a little while Summary: 3 Stars
I have not had an iPod prior to this purchase. I am primarily a music consumer but I wanted something with all the bells and whistles there were to be had, this is IT! It is easy to use and the quality of the sound is great as long as you are not counting on the built in speaker. I believe this speaker was added more for games and such. I connect it to my home stereo and car stereo and the sound is great. The pictures I put on it look awesome and the wifi capability is really sweet. For me the only drawback is the small letter keys for typing in data. My fingers are pretty big and I make a lot of typos, LOL
After using this for less than a year the audio stopped working due to a being dropped a few times. By the time I got it to an Apple Store the warranty had expired. They offered to take my damaged iPod and give me refurbished one for $200. I only pid $260 for mine brand new so I am holding onto a damaged iPod, for what? At least the wifi works and I can store lots of photos on it. The primary purpose of an iPod is for music. Well, I will never invest in one of these again. It was way too fragile to be used in what I considered normal circumstances. The initial cost is enough, then to have to pay almost the same for a refurbished one... nahhhh
Customer Review: Rendered all old accessories useless - Thanks Apple Summary: 3 Stars
I waited several months to upgrade my 5g 60gb iPod video to a 32gb Touch. I was so excited to finally be able to afford one a few weeks ago. For awhile I was in bliss as I played with my new toy. The storage size limit and battery life were the only downsides I could see to this little gem... that was until I tried to use it with some of my many peripheral accessories. None of them will charge my new iPod Touch. So the hundreds of dollars I've spent over the years on speaker systems, my alarm clock, my car adapters and chargers, my backup battery, my media dock... none of them will charge this new iPod. In this economy I do NOT have the disposable income I used to have. I can not afford to replace all of these products because Apple decided to remove the firewire pin from the dock connector. I am very upset over this. I realize I can purchase a $30 adapter that will at least allow me to use this product in my car, but everything else is useless... just ridiculous that they would do this to long-time iPod users. I started buying accessories when I still had just my 3g 40gb iPod so it's been at least 5 years of accumulation that are now just junk. Makes me very leary of purchasing new accessories and new iPods.
Long time iPod users beware!
Customer Review: Cantankerous in Its Old Age Summary: 4 Stars
By now, most people reading this will have handled the ipod touch or an iphone, so I won't say anything about the beautiful screen, nice sized memory, handy speaker, cool apps, and other revolutionary aspects. I'll talk about how it has held up for me over the past year.
The battery is horrible. I can practically see the charge slipping away. Safari and other apps crash a few times a week (safari has been awful tonight, crashing several times). Wifi signals need to be pretty strong for it to find them (is it worse, or do I just notice it more?), and I inexplicably cannot read my emails online anymore (problem with safari and java?)--it gets annoying after a while.
It is a nice product overall. Glad I got it as a present last year, and I have gotten a lot of use out of it. However, I think it was only built to last about a year. What am I going to do next year when the battery is even more pathetic? How much longer will I be able to put up with crashing programs, especially this annoying browser? I don't need a phone, and I like a lot of things about this device, but perhaps it is time for me to get a smartphone running on Google Android. At least then I could change the battery!
