Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod touch 32 GB (2nd Generation) [Previous Model]

Customer Review: Slick, sturdy, great screen, pricey
Summary: 4 Stars

Has a solid feel. That slick look looks sweet but it's a fingerprint magnet and will easily slip out of a pocket or hand if you're not careful. Great screen. I can surf the web through my home wireless network. It's great wherever wireless internet is available. YouTube videos look crisp and clear. Easy zoom & pan makes it possible to view full size web pages, a big change from my windows based phone that is only practical with pages optimized for small screen. An upgrade came out less than a month after I bought it which adds some nice features like bluetooth support and landscape keyboard. I haven't gotten it yet. It irks me that it'll cost me ten bucks to upgrade a brand new device. Almost all upgrades in the Windows world are free. Welcome to the world of Apple. The only way to put music on it was to load iTunes onto my computer. iTunes and syncing the device takes getting used. Not folder based, iTunes looks up artist, title, album, etc on the Internet and arranges the songs like it wants to. It gets correct info most of the time, very wrong sometimes. Can be manually corrected. I still prefer having songs in directories but it's not an option here. Plays MP3's as well as the Apple formats. I had to re-rip about a dozen albums because that particular flavor of MP3 wouldn't play on the iPod even though they would play on the computer in iTunes. (Another 50 or so MP3 albums including those ripped with Windows Media Player had no problems.) You can have iTunes correct problem MP3's but I would only do that if I no longer had the original to re-rip. This is the 32GB model, I've got about 7,000 songs on it, no video & it's about 80% full. I haven't timed the battery but I'm impressed with how long it lasts. Can be recharged from any USB but you have to have that proprietary cable that comes with the iPod.

Customer Review: What an Amazing Invention
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't have a cellphone, don't want one, would hate being in a position where anyone could reach out and touch me anytime they wanted. However, I do have an aging ten gig iPod I bought way back when. It's showing it's age, the battery won't hold much of a charge any longer, so it was time for me to upgrade. A Nano, I thought.

But a friend has an iPhone and she showed me the nifty apps you can download. I played around, looking around in the App Store and found Kanji Flip. Okay, no Nano for me, not now. I got a Touch. You see, I was recently given the Rosetta Stone for both Japanese and Chinese . What a challenge, studying two languages, so different from English, at once. And their writing systems are so different. It's one thing to learn to speak, quite another to learn to read and write.

Yes you can do Pinyin and Romanji, but that's writing for foreigners, you wanna learn the language, you gotta learn the written part as well. And that's where the Touch or the iPhone come in. I downloaded Kanji Flip, Japan Flip, a Japanese Dictionary and I'm studying away every chance I get. They have similar little apps to help you with your Mandarin, but I've been working diligently with Japanese for two months now and am having a bit more trouble with Mandarin, though it's only been a month. I've decided to learn the Japanese writing system first, if I can, then tackle the Chinese.

What a chore, I know.

But the Touch isn't only for flashcarding Kana and Kanji, you can stuff it full of music, photos and even watch movies on it and you never have to worry about an annoying phone call interrupting your work or play.

This is quite an invention, this iPod Touch

Customer Review: I downgraded my Itouch to an ipod classic
Summary: 1 Stars

I have owned ipods since they were first released and have upgraded to newer versions about 5 times. Although i have to admit that the UI (User interface) on the itouch/iphone is the most amazing in every portable mp3 device or phone ever built, apple has made some changes to the hardware on the itouch that have completely disappointed me to a point where I sold my 32Gb itouch and bought a 120Gb ipod classic instead. Apple decided to change the connector inside the device by removing the pin that allows firewire functionality, this means that with many third party peripherals and accessories you won't be able to charge your itouch as it plays. Another example, my car came with a built-in ipod interface which works great with any other ipod models except for the itouch, with the ipod video i owned before, it used to play AND charge through the interface, it worked perfectly, I never had to take the ipod out of my car for over a year, it was always charged!!! Then, with the itouch, not only it didn't charge, but it also froze my car stereo and would make the itouch soft reset itself. It was a true pain in the a@@. I spoke with several 2nd and 3rd tier tech guys from ipod support and they were the ones that explained what had been removed in the itouch, they also explained that it was NOT a software issue, it is caused by the hardware change that apple decided to make. Bad mistake!! I am glad the video/classic ipod i bought again works fine. Too bad because i did like the user interface on the itouch. One more thing, I have an ipod interface with a Yamaha receiver, the interface works great with any ipods except for the itouch.

Customer Review: APPLE IPOD SERVICE SUCKS -THEY DO NOT CARE-THEY THINK THEY ARE BIG ENOUGH THAT THEY DON'T NEED TO CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS
Summary: 1 Stars

I HAVE SPENT OVER A MONTH ON THE PHONE AND THROUGH EMAIL BECAUSE I HAVE TRIED TO LOAD ARTWORK ON TO MY IPOD TOUCH. I LOAD A PHOTO INTO THE "GET INFO" SECTION OF THE SONG ON "ITUNES" AND IT LOADS PERFECTLY ONTO MY COMPUTER IN ITUNES. I THEN SYNC MY IPOD. I HAVE PUT THE SAME PHOTO ON 30-50 DIFFERENT ALBUMS AND 100-200 SONGS. THE REAL PISSER IS THAT THE PHOTO WILL SHOW UP ON SAY 110 SONGS BUT THE PHOTO WILL EITHER BE COMPLETELY MISSING IN THE REST OF THE SONGS OR MAYBE THE TOP HALF OF THE PICTURE SHOWS UP ON ONE SONG AND THEN A SLIVER ON THE NEXT SONG AND THEN THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE NEXT SONG. IT IS RANDOM. SO THEN I DISSCONECT THE IPOD AND LISTEN TO THE SONGS FOR THE DAY AND THEN LATER THAT NIGHT I PUT IT BACK ON THE COMPUTER TO CHARGE IT AND IT ALWAYS SYNCS. WELL THEN SOME OF THE SONGS THAT HAD PHOTOS DURING THE DAY ARE NOW GONE OR JUST HALF SHOWS UP!
I HAVE RULED OUT THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY PHOTOS AS I HAVE LOADED THEM ONTO OTHER SONGS OR ALBUMS AND THEY WILL BE THERE ONE DAY AND NOT THE NEXT - I HAVE EVEN TRIED TO LOAD THE SAME PHOTOS ON 7 OTHER TOUCHES WITH THE SAME RESULTS - MY FRIEND AT WORK HAVE TOUCHES AND HAVE ALL HAD THE SAME THINGS OCCUR WITH THEIR PHOTOS.

LIKE I SAID I HAVE INVESTED 8-10 HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH APPLE TECK SUPPORT AND I ASK FOR A SUPERVISOR OR SOMEONE WITH MORE EXPERIENCE AND THEY JUST KEEP ASKING ME TO TRY THE SAME THINGS OR THEY SAY WE WILL CONTACT ENGINEERING AND GET BACK TO ME -- NOTHING HAS HAPPENED AS OF TODAY.

THE IPOD TOUCH IS NOT RIGHT YET - STAY AWAY FROM THEM - THEY ARE WORKING ON THEM BUT THEY MAY GO BROKE FIRST AND THEN NO ONE WILL BE THERE AT ALL!

Customer Review: 60GB or 120GB Model would make the iPod Touch Flawless!
Summary: 4 Stars

A 60GB or 120GB Model would make the iPod Touch Flawless!

This MP3 player has everything going for it, except that it's missing more GB and a price drop would be nice as well.

Music lovers are basically getting a portable computer when they get an iPod Touch. I am not gonna write a long review for this product. I got my iPod Touch today and i love it. It's a great MP3 player that can do so much more than just listen to music. It's basically a portable entertainment device on the go. Not only do you get to carry your personal music collection with you (Not every song of course), you also get access to emails, safari web browser (The best browser so far for a portable device), Videos/Movies, AOL Instant Messenger, and you can even send free text messages to cell phones and vice versa.

The iPod Touch is simply the best MP3 player on the market. Once again, the only flaw is the lack of GB. This device would ideally be flawless if a 60GB or 120GB model was made already!

I thought i could handle 32GB to tie me over till a bigger model is released, but during my initial syncing, my 32GB library worth of music didn't even fit. The iPod Touch arrived 29.4GB out of the box, which is expected. Instead of putting every song, on every album, from every artists that I have in my collection onto the device, i had to settle for just the HITS from each singer! Needless to say, i was still able to add a few free apps on the device.

Get an iPod Touch. You'll enjoy every minute with your new best friend! You know you LOVE IT! XOXO!
