Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod touch 16 GB (1st Generation) OLD MODEL

Customer Review: Fantastic Portable Computer
Summary: 5 Stars

I LOVE the ipod touch.

I have had mine since it first came out and have carried it everywhere with me. I can listen to music, watch shows and movies from iTunes, read my email, browse the web, write down some notes, setup appointments, watch youtube, read books from Amazon via the Kindle, as well as being ale to play thousands of different games, use thousands of different apps etc.

Using EyeTV I record TV at night, and then transcode it and place it on my iTouch so I can watch TV the next day during lunch, I've placed home movies on there so I can share them among my family, and even have scanned in all my "club cards" for places like my grocery store, cvs, etc which has reduced the size of my wallet.

It is sturdy, and quick... and while I do wish it had a camera, I am happy what I got for the price. A few other people have commented on they have broken theirs, but like the original iPod, I am just not sure how. I carried my iPod with me for years and STILL have it (it now sits in my car for music), and I've carried the touch with me daily for more than a year, with no scratches (I do have a scratch guard on the screen) and no damage.

Awesome product.

Customer Review: Can't wait for nationwide wi-fi !!
Summary: 4 Stars

Being very satisfied with Verizon, I couldn't take advantage of the i phone. I wanted a way to get emails without subscribing to yet another service. The i touch has made that possible. The wi-fi capabilities are as advertised and easy to use. A touch or two and you are connected to the local network. It is fast and scanning emails was easy. Writing emails is more cumbersome than on a computer, but after some time I got used to the tiny adaptive keyboard. I had a port issue for sending emails at the beginning. I changed the port to my computers port and I was able to send emails without a problem. Google maps is fun and useful. Notes works and has gotten rid of the piece of paper I used to carry around with my list. Wish there was some check off feature though. Itunes is well integrated and almost too easy to purchase songs from. Music and Video work great as expected for an ipod. Amazon had it for $20 cheaper than any other store. I got a cover with the money saved. As advised by one of the other reviewers, I just cut off the small tab on the shipped glass screen cover and that has been working great for touch screen protection. Now if I could only get it away from my daughter....

Customer Review: My experience: Great functionality, poor quality
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased the 16 GB iPod touch in January, 2008.
The design and ease of use quickly had me singing the praises of Apple. The apps and functionality are perfect for my needs. The only criticism that I've had since the beginning is a common one: lack of external buttons to control the player; this is a big deal when you're driving or out for a run.

But then...
After a few months, I started to encounter problems with the battery completely draining while in sleep mode. I took it in to the Apple Store, got good service once I had an appointment, and they exchanged it (possibly for a refurbished or returned one). After two days, the new iPod was randomly powering off in sleep mode... Back to the store, where they exchanged it again. One day later, the third iPod's sleep/wake button stopped functioning; it needs to be pressed five or six times before going into sleep mode. Back to the store, where I'm sure they'll tell me (again) how lucky I am that they happen to have a replacement in stock.

Seems like there are quite a few iPod touches floating around with poor-quality hardware in them. Such a shame. If the fourth one flops, I'm asking for my money back.

Customer Review: should have chosen the nano
Summary: 1 Stars

I HATE this iPod! I am frustrated beyond belief. I bought the 16g Touch in april 08 for $369, including the "upgraded software", I see that now it is under $300. I was never able to get the wifi to work, could hardly keep a charge on the battery, then put it down for several months because I was too busy to mess with it or sit down and read the manual. This week I had some time off from work and thought I would get my Touch set up and going. Dang if the screen is now frozen, "slide to unlock" will not respond and I can't even get the stupid thing to turn off. for about 30 seconds I had audio, but then the song started skipping and the stupid thing froze up again. I thought this was "flash drive", I could understand skipping if it was a hard drive. I do not understand what could be wrong, and I don't want to spend another $100 trying to figure it out. I am ready to put it in a drawer, chalk it up to stupidly wanting the latest and greatest from apple, and going back to my little shuffle until I can muster up the courage to purchase another iPod and get the Nano.
VERY DISAPPOINTED, to be sure!

Customer Review: The iPod Touch rocks!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this particular model of the iPod Touch yesterday at Costco's and I must say I absolutely love this thing. The sound quality is absolutely amazing and the navigation is very easy to do.

I have a Creative Zen and when comparing both of them I must say I like the iPod Touch a lot better. The sound quality for the iPod Touch blows the Zen away. In fact I can't have the volume up all the way on the iPod with out it being way too loud. The battery life for this thing is pretty good all though I have yet to fully test its potential.

I really love the album art flow when you're listening to music and you can see what albums you have. I also love how when you turn it to view screen mode the pictures and the album art work will turn the same way.

The only thing I do not like about it is the fact the headphone connector is on the bottom instead of the top like most iPods.

Over all I'm very pleased with this product and it is my first iPod ever. I wish I had gotten it sooner. I totally recommend this to anyone. :)
