This is my first Ipod. I wanted to listen to music while I work out, by walking and cross country sking. This is it. It's so small I can bring it anywhere. Good sound too. I didn't like the fact that the software was not compatible to my windows 2000. I had to use my wife's computer. Apple's site of course wants you to buy their music, but they are pretty good about making it easy to download your own CD's. The rechargable battery is nice. I can easily go 10 hours on a charge. Easily syncs to iTunes and allows my workout playlist to go with me whenever I workout. Very portable but the hard drive is too small to hold most music libraries. Really designed for a playlist.
I have a video ipod that I use to hold my entire library, display video content, and play in the car but the large size makes it less useful for working out and running. The compact shuffle is great for working out. Another option, assuming price is less of an object, is purchasing a Nano that affords both video/audio + is relatively compact.

I other mp3 player is a PSP which i could not use while I am working out because it's too heavy n big. So I wanted a player which is small and light and can be hooked up anywhere. Ipod shuffle fit my need perfectly. the quality of the product is also awesome. I use ipod for about 2-3 hours a day and the battery lasts for almost a week..I haven't found any pain points yet..but as expected, the standard headphones were crappy..go for some good after-market headphones..i suggest V-Moda base freq headphones if u r a base lover.Customer Review: Apple Suffle: Purple

I purchased this for my 9 year old daughter. This Ipod is better than my nano. For it's size,the quality is outstanding. the buttons on the unit are strong and sturdy.
This is a perfect product for a teen, young adult, or an individual who works out. Due to it's size, this is perfect for a runner or a gym junkee.
My next Ipod for myself is going to be the shuffle, due to quality and size. At first I was hesitant about this product as the music is random, but this is a really fun product!

I bought my ipod shuffle about six months ago because I liked the fact that is was so small. Once I had all the music on it, I asked my husband to listen to it for a minute. He liked the sound so much, he wouldn't give it back to me! I bought another shuffle for him for Christmas. The sound is great, and it is perfect to take jogging or hiking. I carry it with me all the time. The clip works very well. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't need all the bells and whisles, just great sound that is not complicated.
