Customer Review: Another Bad Apple
Summary: 1 Stars

This is a cute, tiny little mp3 player that is totally over priced and since you can't drag and drop, and you have to use ITunes to add anything to it, it isn't worth purchasing at any price. I had one given to me and I sold it here for 20 bucks.
It had one thing going for it and that was the clip. Then I got a 4 gig Sansa Clip for 49.00 and that took care of that.

I honestly feel people who buy Apple stuff are, well, silly. Elitist is probably a better word, since Apple makes everything only work with Apple, and all Apple people have an air of intellectual arrogance about them, but silly, is more appropriate because they like throwing their money away.

Not true? I have a 2002 G4 Aluminum notebook (Again, given to me) that is cute and light with a nice screen and totally useless. The Shuffle wouldn't work with it. It needed the operating system X 10.4 or higher and I had 10.2. Cost to upgrade? 199.00. Also there wasn't enough memory. Cost to upgrade? 299.00. The slot drive on this cute little laptop broke after 2 years. Cost to Upgrade? 500.00.

So in order to get my cute little purple Shuffle to work on my G4 Powerbook, it would have cost me a thousand dollars.

#$%^& Apple.

Instead, I plugged my shuffle into a 1997 Dell Latitude with 128 meg of RAM and a 3 gig hard drive, downloaded ITunes and it plugged right into it. Apple is one strange company. They even snub their noses at their own audience.

Also, as for the ITunes interface? It's about as rewarding and fun as a 1991 Windows 3.0 file manager.

Lean close, Apple people, bring your nose out of the air, and save your money. I know it's, for the most part, not particularly hard-earned money, since many of you have the easiest jobs in the world (education), but its money you could actually spend for functional devices.

(I think it was funny when someone wrote that they didn't want an mp3 player with a screen because they were afraid they would scratch it--There, dear friends, is the type of person who actually purchases Apple stuff)

Customer Review: Now a 5 star - see review
Summary: 3 Stars

Let me first say that I love this shuffle - it is perfect for moving around the house or taking a walk while being able to listen to tunes or podcasts. Sure, it doesn't hold as many songs as the big guys but for my use it's great. And when I get tired of the songs I am listening to, then I just go on to itunes and change them. No muss, no fuss.

The problem (and hence the 3 stars) was because the battery wasn't holding a charge even when I turned it off. Sometimes I only use it once a week and everytime I went to use it, the battery was dead. So I phoned Apple and their customer service is most excellent. They said that the battery should be holding its charge and they would send me a new one. They put a hold-charge on my credit card for the new one and once I returned the old one, they would cancel the charge. They sent the new one within a couple days with an easy return envelope (they paid all the shipping). Haven't had a problem yet with the new one but I have only had for a few days. Question is: does Amazon sell inferior products or was this just a fluke? NOTE AFTER MONTHS OF USE: love the shuffle, definitely a 5 star for people just wanting tunes to move around with. Still don't know about the question if Amazon sells inferior stuff or not. One more thought for those out there just buying their first ipod: if you need to have playlists or want to use an ipod to project sound into a room - this is not the ipod for you. This shuffle is very basic with only the ability to change volume and to skip forward or backward through songs. There is no menu. I love it for its simplicity because I use it with a great pair of headphones I bought and have it on while doing housework or just laying around and wanting to listen to tunes with a nice sound.

Customer Review: Apple ipod shuffle review
Summary: 5 Stars

I had bought these two ipod shuffles for my fiance and my mom. My mom always wanted one for around the house and outside gardening. She love it when she got it for her birthday. My fiance love it when she got it for christmas because she now can have her favorite music with her all the time. They both are not into electronics and like how simple it is to use. However, they both needed help getting their favorite songs on them.

Key points FYI:

Must download itunes media player to sync with the ipod shuffle (Free, website given)
Can rip songs from CD's
Can add previous music you already own in mp3 and WMA formats.
Will convert from any other formats that it reconizes
Can download songs from the itunes store as well ($0.99 per song)
Itunes gift cards are sold just about anywhere they sell ipods ($15+)
(No use of credit/debit cards online)

240 song capacity is a lot for changing out different songs.(Not enough, get the 2GB ipod shuffle)

4 hours to charge but 12 hours of continuous play (just like it is
supposed to)

There are protective coverings(the aluminum is the best) out there for this device at Radio Shack for people like my fiance who has the tendency to break things she owns. (Must remove the covering, however, when charging so the ipod shuffle can fit into the docking station)

Overall, great gift or buy for anyone who is not into electronics but loves their music, as long as someone can set it up for them if they dont know how. The best smallest player out there giving the advantage for anyone who can take it anywhere comfortably.

Customer Review: Want to Make a Good Ipod Purchase? Stop here!
Summary: 5 Stars

The 3rd generation of the Ipod Shuffle has to be one of the best purchases that I have ever made, period. Although I will admit that there is just one down side that I see in comparison to say the 80 gig classic Ipod, which I also own. But lets focus on the positive first.

Running at least 8.5 miles a day, 5 times a week the Shuffle is great to have! The controls are easy to use, it gets loud enough to drown out all of the people at the gym and the battery life is out of this world. I love that it can handle hours of music, also that is so small that I forget that I am wearing it on my arm. I also wrote a review one of the Shuffle arm bands that I highly suggest. I know that a lot of people love their new Ipod Touches, but I think that the Shuffle could be the most valuable Ipod because of all of the people I see at the gym using one. It makes time fly and I go a couple of weeks without having to charge it.

The one down side is the sound quality when you compare it to full size Ipod. You can really tell the difference between them. But that is just one of those trade offs for size and convinence that you are going to have to live with with the Shuffle. The rest of the unit is great to use. I know that other reviewers state that it is a little pricey compared to other small MP-3 players, and that is true, it is. But when a product works like the Ipod Shuffle 3rd generation it is worth the little extra money for the long term benefits that the product is going to deliver.

Customer Review: Best iPod value
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a regular 40GB iPod, but only about 10GB of songs, and only really listen to about 2GB of them on a regular basis. The regular iPod is therefore a waste for me, uses more batteries, is heavier/bigger, and generally overkill.

I wanted something for my runs, and my old shuffle (which I didn't really like) broke, so I thought I would try this new one as my wife has one and likes it.

This design is superior, the built in clip negates any need for an armband like the old design needed, and it is so small and light you don't even know it is there.

The battery life on it is fantastic - I use it for my walks to and from work each morning, on my runs, and at night when I play poker - and it still lasts about three days for me on a single charge.

I don't use the headphones that come with it, so I don't know if they are any good, and there are some odd volume issues with the unit when you first start it up (that might be a settings issue that I'm not aware of - it starts off very low) - but otherwise perfect.

If you don't like listening to the same music over and over, don't care about video, don't care about seeing the song details - then the iPod Shuffle is all you need - and it is inexpensive too - get one.
