Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod nano 8 GB Silver (3rd Generation) OLD MODEL

Customer Review: First Time User
Summary: 4 Stars

I had been tempted to purchase the newest ipod Nano ever since it was released. I hesitated due to my budget as a student.

I finally gave into my increasing temptation after I researched it online for the past week. The following is my honest opinion of this device.

The size is great for those who use public transportation. I live in New York City, where everyone uses buses and subways. You can slip it into your pocket without bulking it up.

The sound can easily satisfy the average user. The headphones that come with it are sufficient, but you can always use headphones that are higher quality. I own Sennheiser HD 202 Headphones and they totally improve the sound. This only means that the difference is with the headphones, not the iPod.

As a first time user, the experience overall is amazing. I had always used a portable CD player until now. The fact that I can load all of my favorite CDs and mp3s onto one small device is wonderful.

Overall, I don't regret my purchase. I agree with my friends-- I will wonder how I lived without the iPod.

Customer Review: The New iPod AAC/Nano is AWESOME!
Summary: 5 Stars

My husband purchased a Toshiba Gigabeat last year for my birthday. I still haven't figured how to use it! When I saw all the iPod Nano AAC/MP3 player could do, I couldn't resist! Especially after the CNet review I saw on TIVO. (Boy, was hubby mad!) I can usually figure out stuff pretty quickly even if I'm in the baby boomer generation. This definitely was the case with the iPod and ITunes. The earbuds don't work very well in my ears (they pop out even after stretching the ear canal, etc.) My daughter suggested regular headphones which work very well. The sound quality is excellent. I love listening to the variety of podcasts (Hola!Coffee Break Spanish!) and the bits of video. They are small for my tri-focaled eyes, though. Being able to download a song here and a song there from various artists past and present and mixing them together is really cool..one minute, Frank Sinatra..next..Flaming Lips! Very eclectic! Because of the small size, be careful! I almost forgot to clean out my jeans pocket and it would have had a soapy death! All in all, a great invention....and I love to listen to it while I'm walking the dog..the dog gets tired before I do now!

Customer Review: Excellent iPod...Quality Product
Summary: 5 Stars

Purchased this iPod right after Christmas, and have been enjoying it ever since it arrived. As someone who often commutes by subway train often, I normally like to listen to music while I am on the go. This iPod was very easy to set up, and I was able to download all of the music from my iTunes account onto my iPod quickly and easily. What I love about it the storage capacity....I have about 1300 songs on it at the moment, which is only about 4.6 GB of the 8 GB total....So, as you can see, it holds a lot of music... I also like the fact that you can store a lot of different music play lists on it, that way you can leave all of your music stored on the device (unlike my old player). The controls are very easy to use, and you can adjust the equalizer if you like more bass...I tend to be quite fussy when it comes to quality, and am a person that would have no problem giving an item a poor rating if it deserved it. Based on this point, I can say that I am extremely satisfied with this product so far, and would highly recommend this iPod.

Customer Review: Old I know, but good!
Summary: 5 Stars

I recently picked up a 3rd gen 8Gb Nano to replace my older 1st gen Nano. My younger son has a 5th gen Nano, and while there are extra features on his, it is so light it almost feels flimsy. This 3rd gen feels durable - and I know it is, as my older son has one and has used it every day since he received it.

The features on the 3rd gen Nano are just what I require - larger capacity (8Gb) now holds 250 songs, rather than the 70 of my previous Nano, the battery is brilliant, the display is clear if somewhat small, and the footprint is small as well. It feels robust in my hand, and fits into my hand perfectly. Although I have big fingers nearly all the controls are easy to operate.

I really like the shape and feel of this iPod. I think Apple got the aesthetics right in this model. The taller ones do not seem to fit as many places easily, and don't feel as robust.

My only complaint would be that the control-lock slider is difficult to find by feel alone.

Customer Review: Voice recorder? FM receiver?
Summary: 1 Stars

My kids have Nanos and another player each. The Nanos cost twice as much and now collect dust. They move music and video on and off the players from any computer in the house without Itunes, voice record classes for notes and listen to the radio. All features present on most other MP3 players but strangely missing on the Ipod. My 9 year old has no problem using the interface on either product but prefers to play with the voice recorder making his own "radio shows". My 11 year old is more interested in the radio than my music collection and it saves me paying for songs she can here over the airwaves. Sometimes I want to listen to talk radio or live news while I am out. Try that on an Ipod. As far as reliability, the Ipods are holding up well on the shelf while their favorite players have not crashed yet in the hands of young kids. I recommend shopping by price and features. It won't take long to see what the Ipods are missing.
