Customer Review: I can't charge it, therefore I hate it!!
Summary: 1 Stars

Oh PLEASE!! None of my speakers will charge this stupid thing!! Loaded with features I DON'T want. Sure wish I had read the reviews. My iPod was stolen, so I just got the newest. They are always improved, right? WRONG! I am extremely disgusted. Don't want the genius or cover flow or anything. I want a music/audiobook player that does what I expect every time I touch it. Now I have to find a speaker system that charges it. Or maybe get an older iPod, which I liked very much. THANKS FOR NOTHING, APPLE!!! No wonder I never got into Macs.

UPDATE: Thankfully, a patch is available for coverflow, but I went on ebay and got an older g2 ipod. Now I can charge it again. I am MUCH happier with the older model. Thanks Ebay!!

The only thing I like is the purple color. 8-) Oh, and the fact that we are back to a long, slim design. Easier to hold.

Customer Review: Not as good as the old 30GB I had
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased an 8 GB Nano. I had it for less than 30 days when the I pressed backward to listen to a portion of a book I was "reading". When I did the Nano reset itself, I lost my place in the book. And the Nano stopped working. I could not even turn it off. So I let the battery wear down and the nano reset itself when I started recharging it. At that point I would be listening to a book and press back and the book would switch to another. Amazon was EXCELLENT in replacing it. I received a new one in 2 days FREE. They gave me free shipping back also. So what started out to be a disaster turned out to be fine. I am still playing my books every day back and forth to work. I had read well over 100 books this way. First with my 30 GB Ipod, that was great and lasted years and finally the back seized. And that was the end.
I would do the whole Nano thing over again.

Customer Review: Apple is big brother
Summary: 3 Stars

After spending an extra 130.00 dollars and 9 hours of support that spanned three companies; my software company Microsoft and Apple and finally Dell. I discovered it was Apples deal that unless the device is in DISK MODE which is rather complicated to do...please see instructions online otherwise it doesn't work, meaning it wil say "Itunes has shut down" and that will be that. Well in disk mode when one first attaches the device it will ask for a credit card as you register the Nano. Which is sinister and I think unforgivable. I use the device and I kind of think it was worth the headache still it annoys me how complicated the initial setup was. I think it is shame on Apple for needing my credit card to allow me to play. Bothers me...a lot! It works although I think that the instructions are lousy and made to look simpler (setup) than it is. Good luck!

Customer Review: First model to be usable by the blind
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an awesome portable music player. Being blind, I've never been able to use an iPod before as the previous models were totally inaccessible. My friends are all huge iPod buffs though. With the spoken menus feature introduced in this model, I can now navigate all my music and podcasts. Now, I carry my iPod almost everywhere. This product is very easy to use once you get the hang of moving your finger over the wheel. Glad to see the lock switch is present in this model, it is a life saver. I wish some of the other features such as the games and alarms were accessible, but maybe that will come in the fifth generation. Compared to other accessible portable music players, the battery life on the Nano is incredible. The vast amount of content available on iTunes is equally amazing. Cheers to Apple for making an outstanding accessible player!

Customer Review: Windows XP 64 bit users beware
Summary: 1 Stars

I've never owned an Apple Ipod before and decided to treat myself to one. I had heard some poor reviews, so I attempted to download iTunes 8 to make sure everything ran properly before opening the case (there's a $15 restock fee if you return it opened). I'm glad I waited. I found out after an hour of attempts and tech support that iTunes 8 is incompatible with Windows XP 64-bit. It can work with XP 32-bit or Vista 32 and 64, but not Windows XP 64. I wish that was disclosed somewhere on the packaging as it would have saved me time I've now lost. Apparently, there are websites that explain how you can make it compatible, but you would be required to go through the process each time iTunes upgrades and I would prefer to enjoy my music in a simpler way.

I hope any Windows XP 64-bit users reads this before purchasing!
