Customer Review: Nay sayers...die
Summary: 5 Stars

No seriously, they shouldn't die.....may be wait a few months before passing judgement. I think the product is solid. It weighs much less, thinner and the display alone justifies the price you pay. If you don't want the screen to move. Lock it. If you lock it, it won't move, simple. The battery life is enough. For me at least, it's enough for me to play it at work for an entire shift and take it for a run after. If you are playing video, of course it will suck up the battery much faster. But to me, that's logical. Don't expect to last longer. Plan accordingly and take a cable with you. As far as attachments, what did you expect, may be a microwave to go along with you new ipod. What about we go back to 8-tracks or how about we start using VHS intead of DVD, wait lets just go back to cassette tapes intead of CD. Yeah that's a fine idea. Let's just move forward and spend a few bill for new attachments and sell the old ones on eBay. In my humble opinion, its a great improvement for the price, especially if you buy the 4GB for $129.

Customer Review: Good Accessibility
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought the 4G nano after reading about Apple's inclusion of accessibility features for blind users. While the implementation is not complete, it is good enough to allow me to operate the basic functions of the device.

When connecting through iTunes 8, you can turn on voiced menus. On a Windows machine, iTunes will use the system's default text-to-speech engine and settings to voice most of the menus and media on the iPod. Some menus not voiced, but the important ones are. After sync'ing, I have occasionally had an unvoiced podcast folder. The contents are voiced, just not the menu name. The next time I sync, this generally is corrected, and the problem is sporadic and not a huge deal.

I switched to the iPod after growing frustrated with Rockbox on a Sansa. While Rockbox had a much more comprehensive implementation of voice technology, the device crashed one too many times. The iPod hasn't got all teh bells and whistles of Rockbox, but it has been much more stable,... so far.

Customer Review: Buy this at your own RISK!!! Weak battery and bad design
Summary: 1 Stars

I had a Sansa but that broke down after a few years and decided to upgrade and get an Ipod. After using it for a week the battery would not last past 2 hours, and I was only using it for music NOT video. Now I understand why they sell those ipod docks to recharge, but it got ridiculous recharging it after every workout.

The design is annoying to deal with as well. If you want to increase the volume you have to have a soft touch or you're in for a headache!!! It's so sensitive that you're likely to blast your ears with sound. This is the opposite of the Sansa products which weren't as sensitive. It's so sensitive that if you put it in your pocket while working out the volume will often change on you unexpectedly high or low.

I wouldn't get this if you plan to workout with it. Its like buying a luxury car for a race. It just doesn't work in those circumstances. I'm not happy with this product. The nano was not worth the money and I doubt I'll ever buy another one ever again.

Customer Review: Love it
Summary: 5 Stars

Having upgraded from a three-year old 1st generation nano, I was very impressed with this updated version as soon as I began to use it. I love pretty much everything about it: the price, appearance, the sound quality, the battery life, video, the extra features including some fun games and genius... everything. Out of all that, though, the interface and iTunes, I think, are probably the best features. The software is just so easy to use and intuitive. Nothing else comes close to what Apple has created, not even Zune (no matter how hard it may try). Just about the ONLY things I can complain about it are the tiny scroll wheel which can make games somewhat frustrating; and the tilt control, which is a tad bit too sensitive (I recommend turning off tilt cover flow if you like to blindly control your ipod from inside your pocket). Ultimately, the good FAR outweighs the bad, and I am very glad to have bought this iPod, especially since I saved $20 by buying on Black Friday.

Worth every dollar =)

Customer Review: Good Ideas, Poor Execution
Summary: 2 Stars

With introductions like the accelerometer, genius, redesigned interface, and an even smaller package, who couldn't love Apple's new Ipod nano? While these sound like great additions, they really don't result in a better ipod. While the new interface, genius, and size, don't hurt, the accelerometer really ruins the whole package. The accelerometer might work well in the iphone and ipod touch, in the nano it is just really annoying. It is way to sensitive and causes problems with simple things like volume. The accelerometer often changes the now playing screen to the cover flow which keeps the volume from being changed without the ipod being pulled out and flipped. The shake to shuffle also causes problems, it is to sensitive as well and will activate when it is not intended to. At least the shake to shuffle can be turned off, I just wish the the accelerometer as a whole could be turned off. If it had that capacity this review could have easily turned from a 2 to a 5.
