Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod nano 8 GB Black (4th Generation) [Previous Model]Customer Review: Apple iPod nano 8 GB Black Summary: 5 Stars
Apple iPod nano 8 GB Black (4th Generation) This is my first player. I love electronic stuff! I'm not that into music these days, but am enjoying the audio books. Also love having all of the digital pictures of grandchildren so handy. I downloaded my favorite movie. How fun is that! It works well. The only thing I do not like is the Itunes store. It isn't as easy to find things as Amazon.com is. I'll probably get used to it eventually. I've had this little gadget for a couple of weeks and it's fun. I investigated different types of players (at stores and online). Once I decided on the iPod, I found that Amazon had the best price.
Customer Review: Great, teensy! Summary: 5 Stars
I don't know much about Ipods, I bought this as a gift. The recipient is very happy with it. The thing is so teensy & lightweight. From what I've seen, you can access the music in a variety of different ways, by genre, band, song name, album, etc. You can also play video.
I was concerned that the "shake" feature to switch songs might be irritating if it were too sensitive so that when you were walking or jogging, etc. the song would just constantly switch. But that doesn't seem to be a problem.
On the down side, 8GB doesn't seem to be quite as much storage as he had hoped. And it doesn't seem to be able to hook up to your computer without completely re-syncing your Ipod playlist.
Customer Review: My first ipod; used for working out Summary: 5 Stars
Received this ipod for my birthday. SO far this has been great for working out. The shake to shuffle feature is very annoying and will drive you nuts when lifting/running luckily the feature is very easy to shut off in the settings menu. Besides that, it is very small and light(make sure to get a case). The battery life has been great for me but I only use it for music/podcasts. Itunes was not as user friendly as I expected but luckily I am a little tech savvy and used the help menu. Also, the genius feature was not very useful for me. Lastly, though the headphones were adequate playing back the music, they are very loose in my adult sized ears. All in all this is a great purchase for my needs.
Customer Review: Gift Gone Bad Summary: 2 Stars
My wife gave me an engraved black 4th gen Nano for Christmas, and I immediately ordered a car adapter kit (which had just hit the market). Upon giving up a few hours and some blood installing it in my car, I was dismayed to find it wouldn't charge my new Nano. I then did my research and found that Apple put the screws to us customers just to make their life simpler (warranty claim issues with old pin configuration). I checked the 4G Nano in my wife's Sony clock/radio docking station, and it's the same thing - no charging. I am pissed, my wife is near tears, and have no idea what I will do. If you contemplating buying a 4G Nano - DON'T! Get a used 3G Nano from eBay, Craigslist, or elsewhere....
Customer Review: Will not charge on any existing docking stations! Summary: 1 Stars
I am very annoyed with Apple. I bought two 4th generation ipod nanos for my kids, and then bought two docking stations with speakers that came with adapters for any ipod. Turns out that Apple has pulled a "bait and switch" by changing their means of charging without telling anyone, and, as of Christmas 2008, there appears to be no way to charge a 4th gen nano except on the computer. If I had known this, I would not have bought a 4th gen nano at all -- the whole point was that my kids wouldn't ruin their hearing with earbuds in all the time, and to prevent loss by having the dock. I see this as a huge problem and will be bothering Apple directly with it until they come up with a solution!
