Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod nano 8 GB Black (3rd Generation) OLD MODEL

Customer Review: Nano's keep getting better
Summary: 4 Stars

The new Nano is a nice improvement from the previous generation. The screen is big and bright, the battery life is excellent, and the music sounds good.

The video feature is nice to have, though 8 gigs and the small screen are not conducive to watching feature length movies or even TV shows. I use this feature to keep a few 1-2 minute videos of family and friends to watch now and then on the train to/from work. Plus, the new size makes it fit easily in the credit card slot of my wallet.

Also, this nano syncs nicely with Microsoft Outlook so I can quickly look up a phone number.

I give it four stars instead of five because of what I consider a design flaw--the headphone jack is on the bottom. This means that using the Nano at the gym on any of the aerobic machines requires either placing it on its side or upside down.

Customer Review: Some things in Nano have gotten worse
Summary: 3 Stars

OK, don't get me wrong. The iPod Nano 3rd gen is still a nice MP3 player. Some things have gotten worse, though. So, in some respects, one could say the Nano 3rd generation is an "undergrade" rather than an upgrade from the previous Nanos. Here is the thing that really galls me. It is no longer possible to create playlists from your podcasts. Being able to create playlists from Podcasts was enormously useful because we could go jogging or take a shower or whatever without having to fiddle with the iPod every time the podcast finished playing.

How could they have taken this possibility away? What were they thinking?

The good news is, since this appears to be a software problem, it could be fixed. With the enormous success of the ipods no matter what they do to them, though, how long will Apple take to fix this annoying problem?

Customer Review: Definitely As Advertised!
Summary: 4 Stars

I looked for a long time at which MP3 player to get for my daughter and myself. I settled on the IPOD NANO (3G) and am very satisfied. It is easy to control even without looking at the directions that closely. (Of course having a 12 year old help you doesn't hurt.) To make it even more appealing is the connection with iTunes. Downloading CD's, purchasing additional music, synching the Ipod were all a breeze.

If you are looking for a very portable MP3 player to play a variety of music, the NANO is perfect. The sound quality is very good for my general pursposes.

I have not tried video yet.

The one downside that I see is the fact that there is no wall charger included with the NANO. The only way to charge it is either attached to the computer or to purchase additional accessories.

Thanks.

Customer Review: Great small Ipod, well worth the video
Summary: 5 Stars

The Nano came with a cradle adaptor, not so good earbuds that you should immediately upgrade, and the USB iPod cable, all bundled together.

The dimensions of the new video iPod Nano vary that much from the old one. The unit measures 2.8 by 2.1 by 0.3 inches, with rounded edges and a a very nice brushed metallic finish

I think the look is great and like it far more than I expected.

Cover Flow was not great on the nano. Not much CPUs to push the graphics but good enough for the size and gave a very nice color view of all my music.

Amazon would not ship the nano to my APO address in Afghanistan but I sent it to my APOBox.com address and Amazon was able to ship it fine. I almost went for the Touch, but did not want to wait and its smaller size is better at the gym.

Customer Review: iPod Nano-8gB-Black-Battery won't charge
Summary: 1 Stars

All:
I bought this iPod Nano 8 GB Black last month. Ever since I bought this, I have had problem charging the unit. Even though the battery icon shows that it is only half-charged, when I plug the unit either to a USB port in the computer or to the battery charger (bought separately), the unit still says "Charged." And it won't charge at all. After I juggle with resetting the unit by pressing together the menu and the middle button , even then it won't charge. And I have the latest version of iTunes installed. Something is seriously with the battery charging with this nano. Buyers beware. This is not working all right.
This is my 5th iPod, and every one of them died after a few months. I have decided not to go near Apple iPods anymore.

Thanks.
