Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod nano 8 GB Black (3rd Generation) OLD MODELCustomer Review: My First iPod! Summary: 5 Stars
This is my first iPod ever. Before this, I owned the Archos Jukebox 2000 which holds 20GB. This 8gb Nano blows that other heavy hunk of junk away. The nano is quiet, small, thin, lightweight, plays everything seamlessly, and is a breeze to use. If you're buying your first MP3 player ever, I definitely recommend the Nano. It is really worth every bit of the 199 I paid for it. The screen is beautiful. It's very bright and crisp. Cover flow is awesome, although I don't use the cover flow as much as I use the "artist" listings.
Compared to the 2G nano, the new 3G nano has it beaten hands down. 3.5mm thin! I mean, if you carry it in your pocket, you can hardly tell it's in there.
I really bought the new Nano to occupy me until the Touch comes out and it's doing just that. I'm plenty occupied and satisfied!
BUY THIS IF YOU WANT A GREAT IPOD WITH GREAT FEATURES FOR THE MONEY!
Customer Review: TV output disabled--disappointed Summary: 2 Stars
Spent quite a bit of time looking at all the mp3/4 players out there and decided to go for a Nano classic. Has pretty much the same features as all the rest. What sold me what the TV output, which would come in handy for showing training videos on the fly.
Or so I thought.
After buying two separate TV adapters, that the Radio Shack guy swore would work, I still had no video.
I later find out that APPALL (thats apple) has intentionally disabled the TV output, except for their own cables, which not surprisingly are $50, compared to the $20 most 3rd party adapters go for.
I like the Nano for its size and relative ease of use, but why needlessly anger Apple customers by intentionally frustrating them this way?
Disappointing.
Until they come clean, buy a Zune or something from Samsung (since ipod memory is from them anyway). At least you know what you are getting.
Customer Review: Requires Mac Operating System Upgrade Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this to replace an older Nano. On connecting it to my Mac Mini I was informed that I had Mac OSX Ver 10.3.9 and would need to upgrade to OSX Version 10.4.8 so the new Nano would be recognized.
On Googling this it appears that Version 10.4.8 is no longer available and that I will have to upgrade to Leopard - which is currently not getting the best upgrade reviews.
If Apple requires a particular version of their operating system for the new Nanos to work then this information should be included in Amazon's product description.
This isn't the first time I've had a less than positive experience with Apple and I can understand that Nano 3rd generation sales might be less if the box was stickered "warning, may require operating system upgrade", but frankly I feel the way the Nano is being advertised takes the buyer beware experience to new levels.
Customer Review: Cool little product Summary: 5 Stars
I first bought an ipod classic when it came out. But I returned it a week later b/c I didn't use all the space and (mainly) I was concerned with the viability of a hard drive while I go running. So I went back to Best buy and bought an ipod nano. I think I found the perfect ipod. It's small, stylish, has good audio quality, and a decent storage capacity. I haven't invested in a case yet, but I have not suffered any scratches on the front part of the ipod even though it rides freely in my pocket. The aluminum casing seems to be holding up quite well.
If I could change any design element of this ipod it would probably be to add another ~5-10 GB and change the mirror finish on the back.
I know apple will be coming out with a nano in the near future that will have more storage capacity at the same price - but you have to jump in some time - don't you?
Customer Review: Looks amazing, but am i missing some option for sound quality? Summary: 3 Stars
I'm no tech geek, i dont know about aac, and mplmnop's, I just know what sounds good. The 3rd gen Ipod looks amazing, it really does. WIth exception of the silver back which will probably scratch like a mofo. Just buy a case and you should be fine. Scratches don't really bug me as much as when I went to play a song using an expensive set of bose headphones, the sounds wasn't all that pleasing to my ears. Did they downgrade here or am I just missing something? Anyway, i'm returning it. I don't care about the cool video, I just want my music to sound like it does on my 2nd. It could all be in my head, but hey, I rather it sound good in my head. Also, the split screen is ok, it's nice eye candy, but I use this for working out and mountain biking, im not going to be needing that. If I want video on the go, I will buy something bigger and more dedicated to that.
