Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod nano 8 GB 5th Generation (Black)

Customer Review: Another Winner
Summary: 4 Stars

This 5th Generation entry, the iPod Nano, is a noble successor into the popular MP3 field.

Small, light and packed with new features, it is about to raise the bar when setting standards.

What started out as a revoluntary tactic to change the way we listen to music has now come into its own when Apple loaded the Nano with a video camera, a radio and an app that will tell you the title and the artist of the song before it plays.

The screen is crisp and clear and, as with the others, the Nano is so light and compact that you can tuck it in any pocket or clip it to a belt.

I found it a bit strange thought that no charger was included. You can charge it with the supplied cord to an active computer but if you are travelling (or need a quick charge even though the battery life is remarkable), you have to purchase a separate charger.

With that small "quirk" there is nothing else one can say about the iPod Nano but, BRAVO!

Customer Review: MP3 GREAT, VIDEO NOT SO MUCH
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought 3 camcorder in 3 days in my hunt to give my 10 year old his own portable camcorder. I bought and returned this Ipod Nano for 1 reason, video camera use. The MP3 is great and all it can do. But if you
think that you are saving money buy getting a video and an MP3,not so much. Video lens is located lower corner back of the unit, which makes your fingers shows all the time if you are not careful. Apple has no existing tripod product to hold the Ipod Nano video while you shoot (unless Moms like me can hold it for a kid).Even if you can buy one on ebay for a diffirent brand, it wont hold up the LANDSCAPE capture which is ideal for youtube upload. The Microphone is great, video quality is great, although no optical or even digital zoom whatsoever, but dont expect too much of the video, just buy an Ipod shuffle for a real MP3 and you get the picture. I am sure the next Ipod Nano will be better, not just this one, does not matter how much GB you are getting...

Customer Review: Pedometer won't work with music playing
Summary: 1 Stars

Don't buy this unit if you want to listen to music and use the pedometer. The music skips, hesitates, and gets caught on one note. This goes for the iTunes as well as the FM radio.
I am on my 4th ipod in less than 2 months. Apple won't admit this is a problem, so they just keep replacing my ipod with refurbished units.
If you ask about this problem, the apple geniuses claim there is no problem. If you point to the myriad posts regarding this problem, apple says those are "rumor sites" and "we don't read those."
One "genius" told me it was the fault of my music. I told him I bought the music through iTunes, so it's still their problem.
If you go on apple's site, there are numerous questions about this problem in apple's own forums, but the posts sit there unanswered. Some posts have been there for over 6 months, unacknowledged. Like an ostrich with it's head in the sand...If we don't acknowledge the problem, there isn't a problem.

Customer Review: Getting To That Point
Summary: 3 Stars

I've always loves ipods, but it's getting to the point where they are becoming too small! You have to have children-size fingers to press any of the buttons accurately. I can't put it on just any surface or holder because it's so thin that it will slip through, this is annoying because when I'm on the treadmill or elliptical machine at the gym- i have to put it in my pocket because it's too small and light. This might not be an issue for outdoor runners. I also hate how the headphone jack is on the bottom of the unit. Overall, it's a solid mp3 player though.

Pros:
- Very portable
- Great sound
- No moving parts
- Cool colors, looks cool
- Lots of extras (games, fitness, camera, video, etc.)

Cons:
- Battery life isn't anything amazing
- Designed a little too small/thin
- Headphone jack is on the bottom
- Sometimes slow or glitchy

Customer Review: Sweet Little Gadget
Summary: 5 Stars

After my 3g iPod nano died, I finally broke down and got one of these amazing little guys.

Plus:
*16 gig (for me, at least) is plenty of memory.
*Love the colors it comes in.
*Very durable. (I spilled some water on it, and it was fine. However, I did move it immediately)
*Easy to use features.
*Easy to listen to the radio.
*Major coolness factor

Minuses:
*If the back-light isn't on, it's nearly impossible to read the screen.
*The screen smudges, and it holds fingerprints very easily. (Hint:If you're planning on committing crime, don't leave your iPod nano at the scene. The police will be able to get a good print quite easily)
*Easy to lose; make sure to check your pockets so it doesn't go in the laundry.
*Somewhat pricey.

Overall, a great gadget to add to your collection. Have fun choosing the color you want!
