Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple iPod nano 8 GB 5th Generation (Black)

Customer Review: Disappointed.....
Summary: 1 Stars

in basically every way. Sound quality is not that great, my old shuffle was better, cheaper, and designed 3 years before this piece of crud. Apple should really try to improve on this instead of adding a bunch of gimmicky features. There should also be an option to manually manage your library without using Itunes software--this program is just way too slow and annoying to me.

My biggest reason for giving this a one star review though is the headphones and headphone jack. I've never found that the in ear headphones are very comfortable, and the apple stock headphones are notoriously mediocre. This in itself isn't that big a deal, I was planning on using some headphones I already own. But apparently Apple has switched to some non-standard headphone jack, or else my ipod is defective--tried 3 different sets of headphones and none work correctly, the sound cuts in and out and then the stupid external speaker turns on.

I will probably end up ebaying this thing since all the headphone adapters for this look pretty clunky, and I regret not getting something with more memory.

Customer Review: Tedious user interface
Summary: 2 Stars

I've had my 5th Gen Nano for more than six months now and am generally disappointed with it. I find it to be tedious and not at all intuitive to operate. Among many awkward aspects is the tendency to drain the battery when not aware that it is on. I've tried to be careful about this but find it quite difficult to be careful enough. My typical experience with electronic gadgets is that the manipulation of them quickly becomes second nature; not with this tedious thing.

I'd also like to use the memo feature, which seems to have been added as an afterthought. To be useful, it needs a dedicated button that interrupts whatever it is doing and then resumes as soon as the memo is completed. I don't want to be fumbling through menus to record a quick memo...kinda defeats the whole concept.

Sure, the thing is sleek and nifty-looking. But it gives me much less pleasure than my Shuffles, which are beautifully designed in every respect. The Nano, of course, is a different device that requires more user interaction to control. But they sure made a mess of it, IMO.

Customer Review: loving my first ipod nano!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had several mp3 players over the years. The Ipod was certainly the last ONE i thought i would like. Primarily because apple sees the need to make you use the ITUNES software. earlier verisons of itunes really bogged down my system. but not the new itunes 9!
So, christmas morning, i opened up my new ipod nano. I love the color screen..the included video camera and the overall ease of use.
Itunes has alot of custom options, allowing you to DRAG AND DROP what music/videos and photos you want to add to the ipod. A family member of mine has an ipod and has had a few over the years, and i really didnt like the ITUNES set up..which has kept me away from the ipod. but i was pleasantly suprised on how easy this ipod is to use!
I'm unable to rate battery life thus far..but seems to be doing pretty well. i have listened to over and hour of an audio book, and several songs and the battery hasn't drained one bit.
overall, a great mp3 player. i was pleasantly suprised by this little mp3 player..
(now i wish i would have got a 160gb classic!)

Customer Review: worst shipping ever.
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this product over two weeks ago, via usps and usps is the worst carrier ever. I am still waiting for my ipod to be delivered to my home. When they said 3 to 5 days shipping i thought they ment 3 to 5 day shipping not 3 to 5 weeks shipping. I dont know why but amazon doesn't let you choose the carrier that you want which would actually be very helpful because usps is nothing but a joke. Amazon gives you a tracking number and when you go into the usps website and enter it; it is never updated and most of the time it says that there is no record of this item. And i dont know why but, im a moron who keeps on going back to the usps website and hoping that just maybe they can tell me where my package is. But what gets me even more upset is that amazon just keeps on telling me that package has left seller facilities which is in kentucky, and i live just two states over from kentucky, i could have driven there and picked it up myself. I realy hope that usps gets their act together because i realy never want anything delivered from them again.

Customer Review: INTEGRATED VIDEO CAMERA?
Summary: 2 Stars

In something of an unusual nano upgrade, Apple has supplied it's latest tiny iPods with a few new features...none more unnecessary than the integrated video camera. With owners of the more advanced model, the iPod Touch, longing for such a feature for some time it seems Apple has purposely neglected the demands of the consumer yet again.

The latest features of the fifth generation iPod nano are as follows:

- Reduced Price
- Integrated Video Camera
- Upgraded Flash Memory (8GB 16GB)
- Larger Screen (Now 2.2 Inches)
- Microphone
- FM Radio (Only Available On HD Radio Stations In The United States)
- Slightly Longer Battery Life When Watching Videos (Audio: 24 Hours Video: 5 Hours)

By adding a camera to the Nano instead of the Touch it seems the latest upgrades have been designed with the kiddies in mind. Looks like consumers wanting a camera equipped iTouch will have to wait another year at least.
