Customer Review: A wonderful gizmo with a sophisticated character!

Here in Kuwait, I was lucky enough to obtain a mini before it was even available outside the US where it was in such a heavy demand that purchasers had to patiently wait for their units. I would have waited and waited for such a little marvel. The iPod changes how, where and when I choose to listen; all of which maximizes my enjoyment of the music. I noticed that my music purchases immediately are sampled and compressed on the computer and uploaded to the iPod. I need not experience the music on my Hi Fi anymore. The assurance delivered by the sheer amount of music available in this little package (about 3-solid days worth of music on the mini) satisfies my every mood. With a few turns and clicks, I switch from Joaquin Rodrigo to Philip Glass to the Beatles to Sinatra to Santana ... All good music, all the time, anytime and anywhere. Delivered courtesy of a little piece of technology that is packaged like a work of art. I own a 10 GB iPod and it is an amazing machine. It has many great features that help me. Who wants to carry around a bunch of cds or only carry a couple? With the Ipod you have a vast amount of songs at your disposal. The great thing about the Ipod mini is 1. Smaller
2. Harder to scratch up (happened to me with my original Ipod. The originals get scratched easily)
3. More Durable
4. Has that Arm clip thing
5. Longer Battery Life
6. And the click wheel/touch wheel is awesome. At first, I couldn't understand the concept of this. I will carify since I have tested it out myself. To scroll, you rub the wheel around in a circle just like the original Ipod. But to access the buttons, you press down and click in the four cardnal directions.
It doesn't matter that it only holds 1000 songs because I personally thought I would use that space up like that. But it actually holds a lot more. Its 1000 3 minute songs. So if a song is 1 minute, 3 of them will fit into 1 song memory-wise

I have the gorgeous blue, 2nd Generation Ipod Mini. She's sitting right next to me charging. Many warned me when I purchased this unit back in 2005, that the battery would crash and burn. It's now 2008 and she's still running like new. I do not have a need for video, photo uploads, or other unnecessary technological advancements that Apple has to offer for the "new" Ipods. I paid $350.00 new for this Ipod Mini back in 2005, and it was the best $350.00 I've ever spent. I've managed to upload cds, even cracked cds onto this Ipod. Unlike burning cds, it transfers them minus the skipping; so I basically get my cds on here in brand new condition again. Finding parts for my Mini are getting to be a bit of a hassle nowadays, but if I can find universal parts it works well. The only parts I need are cords (if this one breaks, hasn't yet) or the FM Tuner.
Thanks Apple for a great product. Beats the Zune by a mile, without unauthorized credit card charges for the Zune Pass, courtesy of Microsoft.

Everything about the IPOD mini is easy and great. I had no problem setting it up and downloading my CD collection, and I am not a technology wiz. For most people, the 4 GB mini has plenty of storage space. I've downloaded over 12 hours of music, and have a lot of memory left. The sound and the software is great. Its easy to create playlists and to access all of your music. The only downside is that I haven't been able to download other music that I had previously downloaded online. Itunes supposedly converts music downloaded from other sites, but I haven't been able to do that. Otherwise, I'm totally happy with my new IPOD mini. I have previously purchased several other MP3 players, and returned all of them. The IPOD mini is a great product. Also, you can use the money you save by buying the Mini instead of the 20 gig alternative to purchase a superior pair of headphones. Earbuds never worked for me. Buy the Mini, get great headphones, and enjoy!Customer Review: GREAT potential with these!

I was given a "dead" ipod mini by a friend of mine for doing work on her computer...
She said the battery "didn't work too well" and, like me, she wasn't working at the time, so I accepted, knowing full well that I had a project on my hands :)
Doing a little google research shows that these are fairly easy to get apart and replace bits like the battery, wheel, microdrive, etc, with huge bonus!
The microdrive in these is fully, 100% compatible with compact flash memory cards! I ran to my local Micro Center, and picked up a little 8 gig to test with, along with a shiny new battery, and set about my task of rebuilding... plugged into itunes, and it was detected, formatted, and ready to roll, with no moving parts, twice the storage, and a great battery! If you can come across one of these with a bad drive or weak battery on the cheap, pick it up, do your research on the google, and have a blast with your modified mini!
