Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple USB Power Adapter for iPod (White)Customer Review: Ideal device Summary: 5 Stars
Plug your iPod in (pretty much any model created in the past 4 years) and it will charge. Simple device, and for those that have a iPod that requires the dock connector cable, an extra one is included.
I had the previous generation charger which was larger -- this one is incredibly small and still lets you use the international changeable plugs.
You can use some powered USB hubs as well for charging iPods away from computers, but having the AC adapter is convenient for traveling.
The price isn't super cheap, but considering that the USB/dock cable included is $19 on its own, it makes the AC adapter only cost $10 -- not bad.
Not absolutely necessary for everybody. Perhaps I could have gone with a generic alternative, but would be slightly worried that it could blow up or something, and I also have some of the Apple international adapter plugs that work well with this adapter. In other words, the Apple white always looks cool and the small form factor is excellent.
Customer Review: Must have for travel or just convenient home charging. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought 2 of these, one here when I had a survey coupon which reduced the price by $10 and one on ebay for half of retail, and find that they are totally worth it!
First of all, the price is justified by the fact that you get another USB cord with it. At first I thought 'hey, what do I need another USB cord for?'...Well, it does come in handy because I just keep one of them hooked to my computer all the time and I take the other one with me for convenient, away from computer, charging. That way the one is always where I need it when I want to download more music and the other one is always ready for charging away from my computer.
I got a full charge in less than 2 hours with the adapter. I love the fold-away plug and it comes in a nice, tidy box that you can just keep the plug and the usb cord in so that everything is together and easy to find, or to pack in your travel bag.
This, along with a nice zcover skin, is a must-have accessory for your iPod!
Customer Review: Did not receive authentic Apple adapter MA592LL/A Summary: 3 Stars
I did not receive an authentic Apple adapter as described (MA592LL/A) in product description and I also did not receive the USB cable for connecting to my iPod, which was stated as being included! Product was shipped in a bubble wrap envelope - no box. The adapter I did receive doesn't provide a steady charge for my iPod Touch and has no Apple branding or identification whatsoever! Trying to contact seller "Mac_Pro_Online" to deal with the matter and will update this review accordingly.
UPDATE: January 28, 2010
I contacted the seller and they said it was an error on Amazon's comment notation of the product. They refunded me for my order. They also made note of the iPod Touch having issues with charging on this version however it will work with other models except for touch. Changed previous rating of 1 Star to 3 Stars. They dealt with my complaint in a timely manner and refunded me for my purchase.
Customer Review: Apple is GOING TO MAKE THEIR MONEY Summary: 5 Stars
I will have to give Apple a backhanded compliment on this product, as there is just not much here for the amount of money they charge. YES, mine has worked perfectly since I bought it. The charge is slower than when you charge with your computer, but many times I just need a charge, and there is no computer handy. I would recommend this charger to anyone with an iPod, it is a nice clean looking charger, and you can be assured it won't DESTROY your $200+ iPod which should be everyone's concern.
Apple is making billions on iPods, Macs, and iTunes, why should we expect them to be reasonable when pricing a charger that should be included with the iPod to begin with. No, you can be assured, Apple is not going to cut anyone ANY slack, that is why the Apple iPod charger is the most expensive charger, Apple is GOING TO MAKE THEIR MONEY!

Customer Review: Does Its Job, But Why the Extra Cost? Summary: 3 Stars
This iPod AC adapter does its job well; it charges my iPod safely like it's supposed to. What I don't understand is why Apple no longer packages an AC adapter with their iPods. Well, actually I do understand why: $$$$$. When I bought my 4th generation iPod two years ago, it included an AC adapter. Thankfully I kept that adapter so I personally don't have to buy another one (this one is for my girlfriend). $30 for a simple adapter is ridiculous.
One nice thing about this item is that it does give you an additional USB wire so that you can leave your iPod's original wire with your computer, and not have to use it with the adapter since the adapter has its own. I wouldn't go with a non-Apple charger just to be safe, but man, Apple is getting a deal out of this product.
