I have this adapter. I used it endlessly with my iPod Classic. I even bought all the plug adapters for traveling in Europe.
When I plugged in my new iPod Touch I got an error message "CHARGING WITH THIS DEVICE IS NOT SUPPORTED". A technical support person at Apple could not really help me, but he did offer that power requirements are different.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT FOR THE IPOD TOUCH 2G.
