Apple gives us another innovative product. If you are sick of cheap back up hard drives that fail in 6 months and slow wireless routers then look no farther. The Apple time capsule is awesome in both respects. It's provides reliable, easy to use massive 1TB hard drive back up storage for your media and important data, and works seamlessly with Time Machine, plus fast Wireless file transfers and wireless internet so no more usb slots used up and cable running amok. The time capsule is very compact and stylish and looks great on any desktop.
Great product, reliable, solid, and secure with multi important functions.

After purchasing my first iMac- after more than 15 years an five pc's- I realized just why Apple has the reputation it does- it's products do work better, easier, faster. I had a top of the line router, but wanted backup and more- so I bought the time machine- and It does everything that it is supposed to do- seamlessly and effortlessly. With little effort and minimal setup- it was set up in minutes. I am certainly no computer expert- that is why I rate it so highly- I DID NOT HVE TO BE. Plug in and there it is- a great wireless network- data backup and storage all in an excellent looking device.Customer Review: DO NOT BUY - MINES DIED!

MY 1ST GEN TIME CAPSULE JUST DIED OVER THE WEEKEND. I DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD HAPPEN TO MY TIME CAPSULE... EVEN AFTER READING ALL THE REPORTS OF DEAD TIME CAPSULES AFTER 18 MONTHS OF LIFE.
I URGE APPLE AS A LONG TERM CUSTOMER... PLEASE FIX, REPLACE, AND RECALL THE TIME CAPSULE HARDWARE. CUSTOMERS WANT TO TRUST A COMPANY IN DELIVERING PRODUCTS THAT WORK. THIS PRODUCT IS A FAILURE FROM THE START. WHAT A WASTE OF $500 BUCKS! I KNEW THE CONCEPT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. CREATE A BETTER SOLUTION "BACK-UP" RAID 1/5 SOLUTION THAT WILL INSURE OUR DATA IS SAFELY AND SECURELY BACKED UP!

I've had time capsule for the better part of a year. Its slow. Time machine backups fail for no explainable reason. There's no redundancy (RAID 1 and 5). I've had to clear it and rebuild it. It just does not have my confidence and though I'm a loyal apple guy, its going to get replaced. Network addressable storage (NAS) with multiple disks looks to be my future (and it represents better data protection). Apple is way behind on this solution. I'll probably have to turn off time machine too as it does interoperate with most NAS. Disappointing product.Customer Review: Awesome product

I does what it needs to do... and yes, the first backup takes forever. I took me almost 5 days in a row to complete the first backup of 297GB (that's why is 4 stars) After that you don't even need to look at it... I also have it as a router and it works fine. I have a USB hub since it only has 1 port (also 4 stars for that) and there I connect my other external disks which are now share within my network (and you have the option of prompting for a password to open the disk) I only wish my stupid printer Lexmark X1270 was compatible with Mac.
