Customer Review: Wireless Network Extension is buggy. LAN ok but no Internet

I've been using Airport Extremes for a while to create a large N only network at home.
I replaced my main Airport Extreme with a Time Capsule, applied the same configuration I had before and was not able to extend the wireless network through the other routers.
In fact, it does extend the network locally. Every machine can see any other machine connected to any of the routers. However, NONE of the machines connected to routers other than the Time Capsule can see the Internet.
After hours of troubleshooting and checking every single configuration options, I returned one unit thinking it might have been defective.
New unit arrived, same problem.
My guess is that this is a bug in the routing software and I hope Apple fixes it soon because I do like the functionality that Time Capsule provides with Time Machine, but I can't live without being able to extend my network.
If you are a one router household you will have no problems at all.
If you need to create wireless bridges that connect to the Internet, Time Capsule is not yet for you.

Shipped with known bugs. Which make installation tedious, and use frustrating. Apparently the backup and sleep software are not well coordinated -- leading to system crashes during sleep. Apple's solution: turn off sleep. (Not a desirable solution in my opinion.)
5 hour waiting queues for support.
Serious design flaw: combining backups with network routing, slows down both; especially as the size of your network increases.
Maybe not so bad if you have a network of one computer, and you turn off the automatic backup feature ... but that defeats the purpose to a large extent. Perhaps backups and networking could use separate data buses and processors ...? If the tasks were distributed to processors not being used on the local network ... ?
The Apple Store website refuses to publish reviews that specifically mention product design flaws, or problems with shipping, or support. When serious problems are present, as a potential customer, I would like to be informed prior to purchase.

Not sure why this product is selling for $499 on Amazon when it is $299 from Apple (maybe its a misprint?). I opened my Time Capsule today, followed all the instructions to set it up, it says congratulations your tc has been installed so you can use the internet and your usb printer, and then it didnt work. It would connect in my shared folder but sometimes when I changed the view in the finder it would say original TC not found. Then it would say can not mount TC and then I clicked ok. This message popped up about 20 times and then finally disappeared. I set up time machine and it would ask for the password on the TC and then TM would just turn off. Talked to three different people at Apple that couldnt help me and I am now returning it. Sounds like a lot of people are liking the TC based on the Amazon reviews but beware: You may have problems with this product. Check out the apple support page for the time capsule to see all the problems people are having before purchasing. I should have waited to purchase until all the bugs are worked out. . .Customer Review: Stay away from this

Don't let the Gb rating fool you. In reality, its actual throughput is only at 100TX speed or slower.
Now, the down and dirty fact: If the drive inside drops dead during the warranty period, your data is out of luck if you want to claim warranty--Apple does not offer any type of data-recovery service, nor would they transplant your drive into another unit if components other than the hard drive dropped dead.
The inside of the Time Capsule is like a convection oven. All the components get baked. Extreme temperatures--especially heat--are the biggest enemies of electronic components. No exception here.
Spending $100 on an old PowerMac G4 with Gb ethernet is a much better solution. How to do it? Pop in a PCI-to-SATA card and four 1.5TB drives, install OS 10.4.11. What's the total cost?
1.5TB x 4 = $600
1.5TB x 2 = $300
Mac = $100
PCI-to-SATA card (bootable) = $80
Expandable? Yes.
Removable drive? Yes.
True GB ethernet? Of course.
Data recovery? Yes.

Despite some negative reviews, I purchased the 500gb Time Capsule. It works fantasticly with my Macs (laptop+desktop) and great wirelessly with my Windows machines. Backup from my Mac is a snitch with Time Machine, and the shared drive feature is fantastic - it's like a home file server. The printer sharing also works great.
When I ran into trouble is at my other home, in which the Airport Util. must be used on a Windows XP machine (that does not have wireless capabilities.) The Time Capsule completely screwed up my DNS settings, etc. because I had it connected via ethernet to the XP machine.
IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO USE THIS MACHINE WITH AN ETHERNET ONLY WINDOWS PRODUCT, I STRONGLY SUGGEST OTHERWISE! After chatting with Apple Support, they told me they basically had no idea what to do.
If your machines, Windows or Mac, have wireless capabilities, this is perfect for you. Avoid Windows Ethernet connections at all costs - it'll cost you a lot of wasted time and eventually going back to your previous setup.
