Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple Nike + iPod Sport Kit for iPod nano 1G, 2G (Old Version)

Customer Review: Instant motivation! Improved my running
Summary: 5 Stars

In short.. best piece of running kit I bought for a long time and best value too!
The Nike+ gadget gives you instant feedback on how fast you're running, distance, current pace.
At the end of your workout, it I'll give the final statistics and - if you been doing well - a congratulatory message from Lance Armstrong or Paula Redcliffe. Some may find that a bit cheesy - I love it, if i've been running for nearly 2 hours and Paula tells me I've done well...

When I get home I can't wait to plug the Nano into my PC. iTunes comes up and uploads your data to the Nike+ website, where you can keep track of your past runs and set yourself goals.

As I work most evenings and run during the day alone, this is an excellent way of keeping motivated and I can thoroughly recommend it!

Get a Marware cover for it (which includes a cover/wallet for the pod, so that you can attach it to any shoe) and you're all set!

Customer Review: You get what you pay for
Summary: 3 Stars

Essentially you are buying a very expensive pedometer. As far as pedometers go it is probably one of the best, if not the best I have ever actually seen. It gives good instructions for set-up and it is easy to do. I bought this for my wife, who actually bought me a GPS watch, and we set up her sensor with my watch. We ran a mile, exact and then walked .25 mile, exact. Afterwords we went for a run. The distance was accurate to about .1-.2 miles, and the pace was off. The pace was probably off because of the discrepency in the mileage though.

Not the most accurate way to measure distance but pretty solid, especially since it was a bit less expensive than my watch.

Our biggest concern is buying the armband with it. Everything fits nice and neat, but the screen is covered by material. You cannot see what is going on. We are going to half to perform some surgury to the armband.

Customer Review: Great motivator! Outstanding product! A++
Summary: 5 Stars

Wow! I just finished my second 5k daily run with the Nike + iPod Sports Kit and now I can't imagine running without it ever again! It's so simple to use and provides so much information both during AND after each run. The Nike website that's linked to my iTunes program whenever I synch my iPod Nano is outstanding. It allows you to set personal goals, track your progress, and even to get your friends involved in a running contest. The Sports Kit could not have been easier to set up and yes, it does work with non-Nike+ shoes. I just stuck a small piece of velcro on the tracking device and sewed the other part onto the tongue of my running shoes under my shoe laces and it works perfectly. It is worth every penny and once you get it, you'll soon discover the many benefits of keeping track of your mileage, average time per mile/kilometer, and distance left to meet your goal for the run. Great job, Nike and Apple!

Customer Review: Just the motivation I needed!
Summary: 4 Stars

My purchase of the NIKE + iPod had more to do with my love of tech toys than for any real desire to get in shape. But let me assure you, this is not just a toy. It is a serious piece of technology that succeeded in giving me the motivation I needed to get out and excercise! The system allows you to set goals for yourself and then after each run or walk you plug it into your computer and it takes you to the web site so you can track your progress. For me there is nothing more satisfying than having the system tell me that I am ahead of my goal! Lance Armstrong even comes on the headphones and congratulates you when set a new personal best on the mile. It is a lot of fun and the best part is that I am actually getting back into shape! I've dropped 10 pounds! The system also lets you hook up with other runners on line so you can compete against each other. I haven't gone there yet but plan to.

Customer Review: Nike and Apple score again
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this product along with the Ipod Nano and the Nike Shox shoes and I absolutely love it. I used to be an avid runner (7-10 miles a day) and was looking for something to motivate me to get back to it. I purchase these products from amazon and recieved them 4 days ago. After calabrating the sport kit and getting used to the shoes I have to report that it works as advertised.

The Nike + iPod sport kit works great and is so much more then a pedometer that some previous reviewers remarked. And I really like that I can track all my progress online at the Nike site (free of charge).

I'm glad that Nike and Apple came together to help motivate more people get out and exercise for a reletatively inexpense price (well the price of the sport kit that is).

I would recommend this for anybody who would want to take up walking or running.
