Customer Review: Great Product
Summary: 4 Stars

This has really helped me get back into running. I promise you that this will help get you pumped to run more. For only $30 you can turn your nano into a personal running assistant. The sensor is actually an accelerometer that you calibrate to your personal running stride. Of course you don't actually need to have a pair of special Nike shoes to make it work. You can purchase third party gear that will attach the sensor to the top of your shoes. I have been simply tucking it between the side of my shoe and the tongue, tying the shoe nice and snug like I normally would and the sensor seems to be pretty secure. It hasn't seem to have moved from its original location. The only down side of this product that I have seen thus far is that it seems to cheating me of a small portion of the actual miles I have run (approximately .05 miles per mile which I have checked while on a tread mill). I am not sure if what causes this. The device can be very sensitive to abrupt changes in your speed or hills that might alter your pace. Overall, I would highly recommend this product.

Customer Review: mileage and accuracy
Summary: 4 Stars

I have gone 650 miles so far and still haven't had to replace the transmitter.

Even before calibration it was pretty accurate. The first couple of times i tried calibrating it i used a quarter mile track and got bad results. Then i used a mile long bike path and got really good results. Just a percent or two off. I lost the calibration when i had to do a iPod restore and I haven't bothered calibrating it again. It might be as much as 5% off. I'll do it again when i get some new shoes.

You have to be pretty careful about starting and stopping the calibration process or you end up adding or losing a pace. That's probably why I got better results on the mile long calibration process.

Also even really small calibration errors are going to show up when running long distances. One pace in a 100 M is about a 1% error. Run 10Km and 1000M from the end the ipod is telling you you're finished (or you have 2000M to go). Yep. That can be annoying.

Oh, and the nike web site is great. I find the whole thing very motivational.

Customer Review: First Sensor, Awesome. Second, Not so much!
Summary: 3 Stars

I am a big fan of this product. Very affordable. The battery issue does suck. My first sensor was awesome. I cal'd it on a track and event cal'd the walking part. It was almost dead on. On a 6.2 mile run, it would say I ran 6.4, over and over. Couldn't ask for better accuracy. I really enjoy the pace feature. BUT....

My battery in the sensor died and I purchased another one to replace it. I cal'd it on a track and everything just as the first. It could not be more wrong. When I speed up to a 6:00 min pace or so it says im running slower like 8:40. When I slow down and do a 8:00 min pace it says im doing a 6:00 min pace. Wierd. I am sad and this problem has me questioning the product. I really want it to work right.

If you are a new runner and have an iPod, highly recommend this item. Seeing your distance is a real motivator. For $30 this product is worth giving it a try!!!

Oh and yes I do have Nike shoes, not the pouch so thats not the problem. Maybe I should stop running backwards, just kidding.

Customer Review: Doesn't work well for me
Summary: 2 Stars

This product appears to work well for some people, but for me it doesn't work well at all.

In short I run on multiple treadmills and out of all these treadmills my time varies around 5 seconds a mile. I bought this device and have calibrated it over and over again, yet it has my time well over a minute a mile off my pace. It appears to work for some people, but for me it is far more hassle than it is worth. I run around 6 to 7 miles a day and getting the Ipod + sensor + shoe kit + speaker wire + headphones to work well (sony headphones) is unfortunately more hassle than it is worth. If you are thinking about this product, and this is the feature that will cause you to buy an ipod then I would strongly recommend that you don't get one. If you have an ipod, and want to try it out for $25 or so, then this may be worth the money, if you can actually get it to calibrate correctly. To me, if this is device is more than 10 seconds a mile off, it isn't worth much.

In short don't buy an Ipod just for this feature.

Customer Review: Great Motivation
Summary: 4 Stars

I have turned into a running freak since I started using the Nike+. It has become slightly addictive and I love the voice that tells me how many miles I have done and what I have left to do. Makes the longer runs a little easier. Although the distance can be a little inaccurate on the longer runs I have found it pretty spot on for the shorter runs. I love the fact that you can track your progress when you upload. Maybe I need to read the instructions further but although it tells me what my personal best for 1 mile, 5k, 10k etc has been it doesn't tell when I did it. That bothers me a little but obviously not too much.
The only small issue with using it is that of reliance. I am doing a half marathon in 3 weeks time and use of all MP3 players & IPod's is banned for "safety reason". When I initially heard this I started to panic....what will I do without my nano???!! Guess I will just have to wean myself off it for the next three weeks. That said I will continue training with it after the half marathon. Overall a great product.
