i love people paid to fake review items these days.
i am not one of them.
i have iphone (1st gen) std headphones plus a pair of excellent sony in ear headphones.
what i wanted was the perfect marriage of both in-ear amazing sound
plus the controller for pause/play and a phone mic.
i got these as a gift for christmas after putting them on my AMZN wishlist.
i was so excited because they have such a great frequency response curve,
starting at a ear-numbing 5hz (bass) (*5*!) to over 10 khz (from apple site:
Frequency response: 5Hz to 21kHz)
i was so thrilled, i could hardly wait! threw them right in the ear and was
amazed by how well the system sounds were getting to the ipod portion of
the iphone. the sound *was* totally better than both my headphones, yay!
put in some music. no bass. like *none*. i mean, seriously *WTF*?!
NO BASS. i tried *every* EQ preset in the iphone, tried switching the sizes
of ear pads (small, med, large) and tried every possible position in the ear.
tried multiple music pieces ("poison" by prodigy has some great bass,
nine inch nails, even "stripped" by rammstein. but not with these 'phones --
the bass was sooo low or nonexistent i wouldn't have even heard much of
the subtle boomy parts i love).
i am returning them. i just can't bear to think of using them and not hearing
bass. i'm **really** miffed by the mismarketing / downright lying by the
specs. EVEN THE standard crappy iphone headphones have WAY MORE bass
than these. true the treble and midrange is *excellent* on the phones, and
way better than the std crappy iphone headphones. but i cant live without
the bass.
don't buy these. i'll go instead for a 3rd party controller like
Griffin SmartTalk Headphone Adapter with Control and Mic for iPhone 1G
to go with my sony in-ear headphones.
so disappointed...
