This is a great charger when you're travelling. Just pack and go. It doesn't have any wires so you don't have to worry about knotted cords. However, you'll need to pack in a firewire cable (which came with your iPod) so that this will charge the iPod.
Keep in mind that this is the Firewire version, which supports all iPods up until last year. Therefore, you can charge iPod Touch 2G and 3G, nano 4G and iPhone 3G/3GS. Why? Because Apple dropped the pins from the dock adapter that recognizes firewire. If you have any of the new devices, you'll need to get the USB adapter.
I use this infrequently now as I have multitude of docks. However, when I travel, I take this beauty. It comes with 3 prong adapters so it can work in other countries that don't use 2 rectangle prongs.
