Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple Earbuds (White with Gray Earbuds)Customer Review: My review's smarter than everyone else's... Summary: 5 Stars
Imagine your favorite song, playing as loud as you want, with the clearest sound that can possibly come out of retail headphones. Silent to everyone around you, the people are oblivious to what could be described as nothing less than an incredible audio experience.
Apple's in-ear headphones stand out from all others, with their discreetly sleek design. The sophisticated, stylish, yet humble, trademark color scheme of white and light grey, coupled with the rounded shape of the earpiece, makes these headphones appealing to everyone's eye. But most importantly, the sound quality is appealing to the ears.
Big things come in small packages. Apple has proven this with the iPod, whose playlist can rival the song collection of a radio station in a pocket. Expect nothing less with these headphones. Coming with three sizes of silicon fitting, they can fit comfortably in any size ear in a snap. A recent concern of mp3 player users is the risk of loss of hearing because of prolonged exposure to loud volumes. This is no concern for users of these headphones, because you get a clearer sound at a lower volume by not having to fight background noise with louder volumes. These earpieces double as padding, giving the feeling of a musical earplug--blocking out outside interference and cushioning heavy bass beats, keeping in the rich sound of low, deep bass and clear, high pitches. Using Apple's in-ear headphones, you'll never miss a beat with distracting outside noise or annoying vibration.
Customer Review: Good for light use, not for exercising Summary: 4 Stars
I broke my original iPod earphones on a New Year's trip this year, so I decided to go ahead and give these earbuds a try in spite of my reservations about the price.
(Note: You can easily find a brand new pair of the original Apple earphones on eBay for about $10... There are tons of them on there.)
I was pleased to find that these come with their own carrying cases... Never again will my headphones be crushed in a backpack during transportation!
As for the product, these earbuds certainly aren't hassle-free... It's taken me a while to understand what a "good fit" is. (Thanks to the NJ guy's review!) Once you find it though, they work like a charm, and you don't need to adjust them. It really irked me before that every two minutes I'd have to adjust them all over again because they slipped out so frequently. Now they work like a charm. The sound is clear, the bass is deep, and it's an enjoyable experience.
I wouldn't recommend these for exercising because the intense movement can cause them to come loose, and the last thing you need on your morning jog is to worry about keeping your headphones in! For sitting, standing, or light walking, however, these provide great sound.
Bottom Line: These are a good upgrade from the original Apple earphones for light use. For exercisers, I recommend having both these and the originals so that when you're working out, you can focus on running and not on keeping your earbuds in!
Customer Review: Pretty good quality and bass; may feel uncomfortable to some! Summary: 4 Stars
At first, I was skeptical in buying these earphones, already knowing Apple's stock earphones were a little troublesome. Nonetheless, I gave the them a shot and I was surprised at the powerful bass and audio clarity.
It's not hard to set it up, you get 3 sizes of ear pieces to choose from -- which come in a small container. I chose the medium sized ones and it was easy to attach them on. After that, all you have to do is put them in your ear and that's it. If you're not hearing any bass, then adjust the position, push the earphones deep into the canal for maximum sound quality.
However, here's what really irked me about Apple's iPod Earbuds: When you plug up your ear canal, you may feel a little uncomfortable because it silences all surrounding noise. Also, it's best to be careful with the iPod's volume. Since it's so close to your ear canal, your ears might have a ringing effect afterward. And another point that should be brought up: For those who like to walk or jog vigorously, they tend to wiggle out of your ear sometimes. Also, be sure there's some slack between yourself and your iOS device or iPod as well. Before I bought an arm strap for my iPhone, I had it in my pocket and as I'd run, the earphones would tug on my ears.
In 2011, I'm not sure if one can even buy these anymore since Apple's pushed out a newer model a few years ago, anyway. Other than that, these earphones are still quite impressive. Give 'em a shot.
Customer Review: The Best Headphones for Your Money (If You Can Stay Perfectly Still) Summary: 2 Stars
I just sent in my Shure E2c earphones in for service this week, and needed a stop-gap solution for the next few weeks. My girlfriend dug this pair of headphones (still in their original packaging and in new condition) out from her desk drawer and said "Keep them - They suck".
I put them in and gave them a try; the sound quality was excellent. They were nearly on par with my $90 Shures. I used to do audio engineering, so I'm super-picky about sound quality. These were great headphones - the girlfriend was crazy; simple, end of story. Well...
The next morning I popped them in to headed off for work. I have a 10 minute walk to the subway, and it was then that I realized that the headphones do indeed "suck", and hard. Every movement of the cord produced great "whooshing" sounds drowning out the music. The Realistic wire headphones that came with my Tru-Value Walkman in '83 would be far superior to these if you're moving at all - just pathetic.
Once I got on the subway and sat down, everything was fine - great sound. Got off and headed for my office - WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH. God, are these awful.
If you plan on sitting perfectly still while using these headphones, go nuts - these headphones are a steal. If you plan on walking, jogging, working out, or biking, you should keep shopping - Your money would be better spent by taking two twenties and sticking one out of each ear.
Customer Review: Don't Give up Just Yet! Summary: 5 Stars
As many of you see, the reviews for these buds are either really good or really bad. The really good ones come from the people who have found out the correct way to place the earbuds in the ear. The really bad ones are the people who either gave up trying or have a serious earwax problem.
Before throwing these away (I know that line has been said 50 times in other reviews), look at the reviews and take the advice of the people who know how to put these in the ear (using the opposite hand to pull the top of the ear up and out, etc etc). All of a sudden, that "tiny" sound and lack of bass will transform into an audio experience on par or sometimes surpassing anything costing 150 bucks or more.
The reason some people get tiny sound is that these drivers are meant to ONLY move the small amount of air in your ear canal, nothing more. If you don't get a good seal with your ear canal, the drivers suddenly become underpowered as they now have to move 100 times more air to get the same effect. So before you give up, try the advice given by these reviews. Try scrubbing your ears with a q-tip, try the different sizes, try pushing this as far as possible into your ear (you won't damage your eardrum, its much further in). Your few minutes spent experimenting will pay off with hours and hours of enjoyment. Most of you will then see that this is by far the single most important investment for your iPod. Period.
